Greg Russell

Greg Russell began his law enforcement career in 1981, working as an undercover drug enforcement officer for the Alaska State Troopers. Receiving a Special Commission from AST, he worked with the South-central Alaska Narcotics (SCAN) Team, making controlled purchases of illegal drugs on the Kenai Peninsula. He joined the Soldotna Police Department as a Patrol Officer in 1982 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1985. During his nearly 18 years at SPD, Greg supervised Patrol, Investigations, Property and Evidence, Training, Administrations, and was the department’s Computer Systems Administrator. In 1995, Greg attended the 180th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, taking command level courses in: Contemporary Issues for Law Enforcement; Management Planning and Budget; Forensic & Technical Services for Managers; Legal Issues for the Police Administrator; and Physical Fitness Advisors Association. He received his Bachelors Degree in 1977 and is working towards his Masters Degree in Public Administration. Additionally, he a life member of APOA (Alaska Peace Officers Association), an active member of the FBI National Academy Associates, and a retired member of the Alaska Chiefs of Police Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.  Greg now owns Russell Consulting, LLC (www.russell-consulting.org) and continues to provide service to Alaska’s law enforcement community.

He is a certified Police Instructor and holds an Advanced Certificate with the Alaska Police Standards Council.

Greg is an EVOC Instructor and an Instructor Trainer for SkidCar. He is also the Program Manager for the Alaska Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Commission (ALEAAC).
