Salary and Benefits

The base monthly salary for a State Trooper Recruit varies based on geographic location. Fairbanks is $4,231. Salaries are subject to modification by terms of the collective bargaining agreement. There are two (2) separate collective bargaining agreements that cover Trooper salaries; the PSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The State Trooper Recruit receives benefits including paid leave and holidays, life and health insurance programs for the State Trooper Recruits and their dependents, and an excellent retirement program once they are vested. You may review a recent Pension Benefits handbook (large PDF, 1.89 MB). For up-to-date information about the State of Alaska's benefit system, please visit the Division of Retirement & Benefits website or visit their Contacts page.

A copy of the current collective bargaining agreement that details salaries and benefits for Alaska State Troopers represented by the Alaska Public Employees Association is entitled "Public Safety Employee Association " and can be found at the Division of Labor Relations site.
