Council Mission:
Provide safety for Alaskans victimized or impacted by domestic Violence and sexual assault through a system of statewide crisis intervention, perpetrator accountability and prevention services.
The Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual assault is comprised of nine members: Commissioners or their designee of the Departments of Corrections, Law, Health and Social Service, Public Safety, Education and Early Development; and four public members appointed by the governor. The Council meets, at a minimum, quaterly. All meetings are announced by public notice.

The statutory purpose of the Council is to "provide for planning and coordination of services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and to perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual assault and to provide for crisis intervention and prevention programs" (AS 18.66.010).
