Jayne Andreen

Jayne E. Andreen has over 32 years of Alaskan experience working in private and public nonprofit and governmental organizations. After directing the former South Peninsula Women’s Services in Homer (now named Haven House) from 1982 to 1994, she served as the Executive Director of the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault from 1994 to 1998. She then spent 16-plus years overseeing the State of Alaska’s Health Promotion program, supervising a wide range of staff and programs including prevention of heart disease and obesity, tobacco prevention and control, school health, the health survey lab, and injury and violence prevention. The cornerstone of her work has been building organizational and community capacity to address priority issues using evidence-based and promising practices within the context of local culture and resources.

Jayne has been active in wide range of statewide and local task forces, working groups and collaborative efforts. She is a past President of the Alaska Health Education Consortium, the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Board of Directors, the national association, Directors of Health Promotion and Education, and the Alaska Women’s Lobby. She is the current past President of the Alaska Public Health Association, Jayne is a skilled trainer and consultant on community and organizational development, needs assessment, planning and evaluation. She is a national trainer for the System’s Change for Health curriculum developed by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Jayne has a BA in Psychology/Counseling from Winona State University, and is a graduate of the Public Health Education Leadership Institute.
