One of the goals and responsibilities of the Council is to help prevent domestic violence and sexual assault before it ever happens. Prevention is an active, assertive process of creating conditions and personal attributes that promote the well-being of people and communities. Some prevention efforts going on in Alaska right now include:
These programs and community outreach campaigns are helping to change norms in communities about violence, are helping to provide education and awareness of the issues and are helping Alaskans know what they can do individually and collectively to create change.
