The driver, later identified as 27 yoa Anchorage resident Robert Corbitt, failed to stop and led Troopers on a pursuit exceeding speeds of 100 mph. Corbitt fled on foot near Settler's Bay Drive and KGB Road. Trooper K9 Roelle tracked and located Corbitt in the woods near Irwin Drive. Corbitt was arrested on the charges of Eluding 1, DWLR, and Probation Violation and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held without bail. Investigation showed that Curtis Ray Nayokpuk, 27 yoa of Shishmaref had been consuming alcohol with his wife at their residence. An argument ensued which lead to C. Nayokpuk assaulting his wife and further attempting to prevent her from reporting the assault to law enforcement. C. Nayokpuk was arrested and taken to the Shishmaref Public Safety Office. C. Investigation revealed Gregory Nickolas, age 33, of Lower Kalskag assaulted a family member with a dangerous instrument, physically assaulted a family member, endangered another, and made harassing phone calls. Further investigation revealed Gregory has two prior Assault convictions making this offense a felony assault and had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on the original charge of Assault in the Third Degree. Gregory was located and gave a false name to Troopers. Gregory was arrested and will be transported to Bethel when weather permits. Alcohol was a factor in the incident. Investigation revealed a male suspect assaulted a family member with a dangerous instrument, placed the family member in fear with a dangerous instrument, made repeated threats to kill the family member and physically assaulted the family member. Further investigation revealed that property in value of $100 was damaged and the suspect prevented a family member from reporting the domestic violence crime to Troopers. The investigation continues and the suspect has been identified. Alcohol was a factor in the incident. The investigation revealed that Harry L. Clark Jr., 33 YOA of Selawik, slashed his brother on the face with a hunting knife resulting in serious injuries. Clark also charged two other bystanders with the knife forcing the bystanders to flee for their safety. The injured victim was assisted to the Selawik Clinic where he was treated for his injuries. Clark was arrested for Assault 1st and 2 counts of Assault 3rd and was transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where he is being held on $250,000. bail. Alcohol was a factor in the case. The complainant also stated that Savage was intoxicated. Savage is on probation, with conditions not to consume alcohol. Her conditions also state that she can be arrested without a warrant if she violates her conditions. At approximately 1600 hours Troopers arrested intoxicated Savage and remanded her to the Aniak State Trooper Post pending arraignment at the Aniak District Court on 1-14-13. A theft bulletin was sent out to surrounding villages and Akiachak PD. Akiachak Jason Charles patrolled the village and located the snowmachine, abandoned in the middle of Front Street. AST responded to the Moose Mountain Lodge and coordinated with the Moose Mountain Ski Patrol. PAWS (Search and Rescue Dogs) and the Fairbanks Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) joined the search. At 2045 hours the juvenile contacted his father via cell phone after walking six miles through fresh snow and the heavily wooded area north of the Moose Mountain ski area. Investigation revealed the juvenile skier got off trail, became disoriented and walked in the wrong direction. Naske lost control of his car and the vehicle partially overturned in the ditch. The vehicle came to rest against a utility pole. Naske was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured. The vehicle sustained minor damage. Investigation revealed the driver was traveling East on Chena Hot Springs road, and hit a moose that was standing in the roadway. The driver attempted to avoid the moose, but was unable to. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags did not deploy. The driver was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital by EMS for minor injuries. The vehicle, a Ford Taurus sustained substaintial damage and was a total loss, alcohol was not a factor, and no citations were issued. The Alaska Moose Federation responded and transported the moose to a charity. Investigation determined 49 year old Robert Morrison had been driving his 2009 Ford Escape when a moose entered his lane of travel. Morrison was unable to avoid the collision and the moose was killed. The Ford sustained moderate damage. Morrison and his passenger were uninjured. The Alaska Moose Federation (AMF) salvaged the moose. Sidney Denham, age 21, of Homer also heading north bound, driving a 1994 Dodge sedan, did not observe the pickup stopped and was unable to stop and collided into the rear end of the pickup driven by Walker.
