The vehicle was pulled over after AST identified the driver as having a Revoked license. Investigation revealed that Corey Cota, age 23 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle while his license was Revoked. C. Cota was arrested for DWLR and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center. Investigation revealed Sue Lee, age 19, of Wasilla was attempting to exit the Colony High School parking lot onto Colony School Drive in her white, 2000 Mercedes-Benz SUV when the vehicle lost traction and was subsequently struck by a blue, 2000 Chevrolet Impala being driven on Colony School Drive by Gwen Schneider, age 50, of Palmer. Both drivers reported wearing their seatbelts and sustaining no injuries. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and Lee was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Investigation revealed, someone forced entry into the residence and stole a Toyo stove, and a BB rifle. Severe damage was caused to the residence due to the heating oil line being cut and oil seeping throughout the residence. Investigation continues. Willow Drive in Wasilla for a death investigation. Investigation revealed Phyllis Hinton, age 90 of Wasilla, passed away of natural causes. The State Medical Examiner was contacted and released the body to the family. Valley Funeral Home responded to the scene and took possession of the body. Next of Kin was on scene. Investigation revealed Jeremy Janis, age 23, of Wasilla was operating a 1999 Hyundai Accent westbound on Bogard Road, approaching the intersection of Seward Meridian Parkway. Janis lost control of the vehicle and was subsequently struck by a eastbound 2007 Dodge Ram being driven by Jasmine Wood, age 25, of Palmer. Wood's vehicle continued after striking the Hyundai and collided with a 1998 Dodge Ram stopped on Seward Meridian Parkway and being driven by Michael Haire, age 43, of Wasilla. Janis and two occupants of his vehicle were transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital with minor injuries. All three vehicles sustained over $500.00 in damage and Janis was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Tait had 2 outstanding arrest warrants; one in the amount of $1000 for FTA Probation Adjudication and FTC Conditions of Probation on the original charge of Violation of Conditions of Release and one in the amount of $500 cash only for FTA Arraignment on the original charge of Assault. Tait was arrested without incident and remanded to MSPT where she was held on the $1500 total bail. While on the traffic stop, a passing northbound 2013 Jeep Patriot driven by 50-year-old John Basler of Willow, slowed to yield to the patrol vehicle. A 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by 23-year-old Bryan Hamersley of Willow rear ended Basler's vehicle, causing Basler to narrowly miss striking the Trooper. Basler pulled over to exchange information and Hamersley fled the scene. AST caught Hamersley at approximately 1350 hours at a residence on Nichols Drive in Houston. Investigation revealed Hamersley's passenger, 20-year-old Kerstynrenee Lanz of Houston, had a $2000 outstanding felony arrest warrant for failure to appear on the original charges of misconduct involving a controlled substance, theft, and trespassing. Lanz was arrested on the warrant. Hamersley was arrested for leaving the scene of a collision, failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer, and hindering prosecuting. Hamersley was issued citations for failing to provide proof of insurance and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Both Hamersley and Lanz were transported and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial. No injuries were reported and both vehicles sustained minor damage. Investigation revealed Kay Eliason, age 49 of Anchorage, was operating a front end loader for the State of Alaska Department of Transportation. Eliason was clearing rocks from the highway.
