A Detachment Location: Ketchikan Case number: AK13004539 Type: Theft of Services Text: On 1/20/2013 at approximately 0700 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrived at the North Tongass Highway near South Point Higgins Road for a report of a theft of services from a cab service. Investigation revealed two adult males described to be possibly native or Hispanic, in their early 20's, had both failed to pay their fair, which totaled approximately $105. The individuals were picked up at approximately mile 3.5 of the South Tongass Highway at around 0500 hours. This case is still under investigation. Investigation revealed 36-year-old Ketchikan man had damaged property that was jointly owned by him and a former domestic partner. The damage was estimated to be $100.00. Investigation revealed James Mitchell II, age 25 of Wasilla, had assaulted a family member at the residence. Subsequently, Mitchell was arrested and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail. The driver, later identified as 39 yoa Houston resident Vincent Kunayak, failed to stop and led Troopers on a pursuit northbound on the Parks Highway. Kunayak fled on foot near Mile 51 leaving his snowmachine in the ditch. After a four-hour search using a State Trooper K9 and multiple units, Troopers were unable to locate Kunayak at the time, but contacted him at his residence on 1/20/13. Kunayak was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial and held on $3500 bail. AST responded to the residence. AST investigation determined Marcus Benton, 22, of Kodiak had assaulted three people. Marcus was located at another residence a short distance away. Marcus was arrested and lodged at Kodiak Jail to await arraignment. Investigation revealed a 2010 Ford F-350 driven by Kari Lorring, 34, of Kodiak, lost control on Antone Way while traveling over an area of ice. The F-350 overturned in the ditch on the westbound side of the road. All the occupants were using seat belts and no one was injured. The F-350 sustained approximately $6,000 in damages. Teeluk was being watched by a locally hired jail guard at the time of the escape. At 1303 hours, Teeluk was located and arrested for Escape II. Teeluk will be transported to YKHC to await arraignment. Bowers described the skis as white Rossignal 152cm skis with pink, beige, and blue designs with Rossignal bindings. The value of the skis and bindings was approximately $700.00.
