A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Ketchikan Case number: AK13005956 Type: DUI, DWLR Text: On 01/26/13 at approximately 0012 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted a red Chevrolet in Vallenar View trailer park after receiving a noise complaint. The driver was identified as Robert Harvey, age 50 of Ketchikan. Investigation revealed that Harvey had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and while his license was Revoked. Subsequently, Harvey was arrested for DUI and DWLR. Harvey was transported and remanded to KCC with bail set at $1500. Upon arrival, Troopers contacted Billy Rogers, age 30 of Palmer. Troopers confirmed Rogers had been previously convicted of Sexual Assault in the 2nd degree and was required to register as a sex offender. Rogers was found to be out of compliance and was arrested. Investigation determined that Daniel Barkie, age 55 of Anchorage was traveling northbound in a 2008 Peterbilt semi-truck when he lost control of the truck and drove into the northbound ditch. The truck came to rest on its right side after it went down a steep embankment. Barkie was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and did not require medical attention. Barkie was cited for basic speed and released. A wrecker service from Anchorage was dispatched to the scene and removed the vehicle. Investigation revealed Gary Ovitt, age 66, of Aniak, operated a green Honda rancher ATV while intoxicated. AST observed Rainer in a physical struggle with another male. Investigation revealed Rainer had been in an argument with a family member in his vehicle, prior to AST arrival. During that time Rainer attempted to re-enter the vehicle and assaulted the family member in the process. Rainer was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center (FCC). Investigation determined that traffic was backed up for an unknown reason. A Chevrolet Silverado driven by Bryan Love, age 45 of Fairbanks lost control on the icy roads and struck three other vehicles that were stopped due to the congestion. No one was injured. Investigation determined that Ulysses Kropf-Castillo, age 22 of Fairbanks collided with a calf moose that was crossing the road on Murphy Dome Road. There were five students on the bus. No one was injured. Investigation determined the driver, David Kasak, 48 of North Pole had been driving under the influence. Kasak also had a revoked driver's license and was on conditions of release that stated he was not to drink alcohol. Kasak had a breath alcohol content of .161. Kasak was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving While License Revoked, and Violating Conditions of Release. Kasak was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
