B Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: AK13011280; AK13011363 Type: Vehicle Theft 1; Criminal Trespass 1 Text: On 02/17/13 at approximately 0104 hours, AST responded to the Alaska R+R RV Park near mile post 49 of the Parks Highway for the report of a disturbance in progress. AST contacted Ricky Cunningham, age 45 of Wasilla, on scene. Investigation revealed Cunningham entered the property of another with the intent to commit a crime. Further investigation revealed on 02/16/13 a white 1997 Chevy Tahoe was reported stolen from a church on E. Bogard Road in Wasilla. Cunningham was found in the driver's seat of the stolen vehicle at the RV Park. Cunningham was arrested for the original charges of Vehicle Theft in the First Degree and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. Cunningham was transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where he was remanded into custody and held on $3,000 bail. Investigation revealed Rhonda S. Schmidt, age 50 of Wasilla, had an active misdemeanor warrant for Failure to Remand for 30 days with an original charge of DWLR. Troopers arrested Schmidt for the warrant and remanded her to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held without bail. Author: ASG0 Received Sunday, February 17, 2013 8:17 PM and posted Sunday, February 17, 2013 8:31 PM ------------------------------------------------- Location: Rainy Pass Case number: AK13011492 Type: Aircraft Accident Text: On 02/17/2013, at approximately 1617 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a downed aircraft near the Rainy Pass Lodge, in the Alaska Range. The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) responded to the scene with a C-130 and an HH-60 Helicopter. Reports from the lodge indicated there were two critically injured individuals that were extricated from the plane and brought to the lodge. The plane was reported to be a Cessna 170B that crashed at the end of a lake near the lodge after making a sharp turn. RCC arrived at the Rainy Pass Lodge at a pproximately 1825 hours. The victims, identified as Robert D. Stone, age 44, and Jason A. Wichman, age 31, both of Anchorage, have been transported to the Alaska Native Medical Center and Providence Alaska Medical Center, respectively, for treatment of critical injuries. The FAA and NTSB have been notified and are making arrangements to respond to the scene of the crash. The families of both victims were notified and have already arrived at the hospitals. The investigation is continuing through the FAA and NTSB. Investigation revealed Michael Mackey, age 43 of Wasilla, had assaulted two individuals in the residence, one of which was a roommate. Mackey was arrested on two counts of Assault IV and remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail. Andrew Larson, age 28 of Koliganek had left New Stuyahok at approximately 2015 hours. As of 2300 hours, Larson had not made it back to Koliganek yet. Larson became lost and ended up running out of fuel approximately four and a half miles outside Koliganek. Searchers from Koliganek located Larson and escorted him back to the Village. Larson was said to be in good condition. Deserae Wassillie, age 28 of Levelock and Chadalin Washington, age 23 also of Levelock were said to have left the Village at 1500 hours and were headed to New Stuyahok to attend the Winter Carnival. There was also a 3-year old and an 8-year old child traveling with them. One of the snowmachines broke down and they then became lost while trying to get back to Levelock. Ground searchers went out from both New Stuyahok and Levelock to search for the group. At 0135 hours, King Salmon AST located the group and transported them back to Levelock via helicopter. All members of the party were in good condition. Investigation revealed 55 y/o Craig Gustafson assaulted a family member. Gustafson was placed under arrest and transported to the Kodiak Jail. Investigation revealed Ernest Silvia, age 63, of Fort Greely, was driving northbound on the Richardson Highway when his rear tires lost traction on the snow covered road. Silvia was unable to correct the vehicle and struck the southbound lane guard rail. The vehicle came to rest with the rear passenger side tire on top of the cable guard rail. Silvia was uninjured and Cable Guy Towing responded for the vehicle. There was slight damage to the guard rail. Investigation revealed Newman had a current Stalking Protective Order in effect that prohibited her from contacting a neighbor. Newman contacted the neighbor in violation of the order. Investigation revealed Charles Wall, age 24 of Anchorage, was northbound Seward Hwy when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving. The vehicle went into the northbound ditch and rolled onto its roof. The vehicle was also occupied by his wife and 2-year-old child.
