Investigation revealed a 25 yoa male allegedly elbowed a 48 yoa female in the throat while aboard the AMHS M/V LeConte while it was docked in Angoon. The investigation is continuing. Warren was remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center with the bail set at $10,000. C Detachment ----------------------------------------- Location: Nome Case Number: AK13025939 Type: search and rescue Text: At 0511 on 04/20/2013, AST received a report of a SPOT locater beacon distress call. Ian Mcrae, 50 of Nome, and Andy Sterns, 46 of Fairbanks, were mountain climbing in the area of the distress call. Mcrae and Sterns are reported to be climbing Mt. Osborn, located about 40 miles north of Nome. Nome search and rescue team sent a hasty team via snowmobile, however, the mountainous terrain required air transportation. At 1030 hours a Bering Air R-44 transported Sterns to Nome for ground ambulance transport to the hospital for treatment of leg injuries that prevented him from climbing down the mountain. Mcrae, who was uninjured, returned to Nome with the SAR ground team. Stefan Allen Gerlinger, 23 of North Pole, was subsequently arrested for DUI. Barry Marcel Presley, 23 of Fairbanks, was subsequently arrested for a Parole Violation. They were both transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center. Darrell Hunt, age 37, of Pitka's Point was identified by members of his hunting party as being deceased. The remains were brought to St. Mary's by members of the hunting party before AST had been notified of the death. AST responded to the scene of the death, located approximately 52 miles up the North Fork of the Andreafsky River. The circumstances of the death are still under investigation. Cook was remanded and transported to Wildwood to Pretrial facility and held without bail. The complainant reported the suspects had left the scene. AST located the vehicle driving down the road without headlights. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Jacob Tuttle (age 21 of Kenai) and passenger, Connor Hamman, (age 20 of Kenai). There were weapons in the vehicle and the passenger became uncooperative with AST. Hamman was subsequently arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and MCA. After subsequent investigation Tuttle was arrested for DUI. Tuttle was remanded to Anchorage Jail with $250 bail. Hamman was remanded to Anchorage Jail without Bail. Incident to the contact, 2-750ML bottles of alcohol were found and seized. A case report will be forwarded to the Bethel DAO, charging her with Alcohol Importation. Investigation complete. Information provided to SDEU led investigators to believe the charter was being used to transport alcohol into Kobuk. On 4-20-13, Kotzebue WAANT contacted the plane in Kobuk. Subsequent to investigation, forty-eight (48) 750 ml bottles of distilled spirits were seized. Several suspects have been identified and an investigation continues. Kobuk is a local option community that has voted to ban the sale and importation of alcohol. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: AK13026115 Type: Warrant Arrest, Hindering Prosecution 2nd, MICS 6th, Probation Viola tion Text: On 4/20/13, at 2345 hours, Troopers with the Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol and Palmer Patrol Unit arrested Jessica Russell, 31 of Wasilla, on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to remand herself to serve time on criminal charges. Russell was located on the Palmer Wasilla Highway extension after a brief foot chase from a residence on Creekside Drive. Russell was transported and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial to serve her sentence. While Troopers were attempting to locate Russell, Joseph Alcantra, 29 of Wasilla, was found to be actively assisting Russell in avoiding the Troopers. Alcantra was found to be on felony probation and in violation of several of his probation conditions. Alcantra was arrested and a small amount of marijuana was found on his person. Alcantra was transported and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held pending arraignment. The driver was identified as John M. Thede, age 29, of Anchorage. An investigation revealed Thede was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol and he was placed under ar rest for DUI. Thede was then transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $500 bail.
