Investigation revealed that Steen was under the influence of alcohol which was in violation of his conditions of probation. Steen was arrested and transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with no bail. Troopers contacted Michael Hansen, age 52 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Hansen had a $250 warrant for Failure to Appear at Arraignment on the original charge of DWLR. Cranberry St. and N. Juniper St, near Palmer, for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Caleb G. Bennett (age 30 of Palmer), fled from the vehicle on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, Bennett attempted to assault a State Trooper and resisted arrest by force. Bennett was subsequently subdued and was placed under arrest. Investigation revealed Bennett was under the influence and impaired by alcohol. Bennett was transported to the Palmer State Trooper Post where he refused to submit to a chemical test of his breath. Bennett was subsequently charged with Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer II, DUI, Assault IV on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Investigation revealed Larsen had an outstanding $250 arrest warrant for failure to appear on the original charges of assault and criminal mischief. Larsen was arrested, transported, and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial and the vehicle was released to the owner. It was further reported that Moonin was armed with a shotgun during the assault and was threatening to kill himself. Troopers responded from Homer. While responding, Troopers were advised the Nanwalek School was on lock down due to Moonin walking around the village with the shotgun. Troopers contacted Moonin and arrested him for Assault IV Domestic Violence. Investigation revealed he was not walking around the village with the shotgun. The school was released from lock down. Moonin was remanded to the Homer Jail. Peterkin reported approximately 300 gallon of fuel and some miscellaneous tools were taken from an excavator and portable heater that were on the job sight. The portable heater sustained approximately $300 of damaged during the theft. At this time there are no suspects, but the investigation is continuing. Investigation revealed Childers purchase a resident Alaska sport fishing license in May of 2009, yet only lived in Alaska for five months. Childers was issued a citation with the bail set at $310. Investigation revealed that Baldwin had killed a cow moose in January because his dog had chased it in his yard. Baldwin shot the moose to protect his dog, which was not restrained at the time, and the moose died a short distance from his cabin. Baldwin never reported the incident to the Department of Fish and Game or the Wildlife Troopers, nor did he salvage any meat from the moose. Baldwin is charged with wanton waste of game meat, taking a moose during a closed season, unlawful possession of game and hunting without a valid license. Troopers made contact with the operator of the vehicle who was identified as Leland Dennis Coleson, age 43 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Coleson was Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. Coleson was arrested for DUI, transported to and remanded in MSPT with his bail set at $500.
