Investigation revealed that Kaleb C. Jones, age 25, of Eagle River, created a substantial risk to other motorists while operating the motor vehicle at a high rate of speed. Holden had an outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $2,500 for Failure to Appear on the original charges of Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance. Holden was arrested on the warrant. A second male George Watson, age 54 of Wasilla, was contacted driving a 1997 GMC Jimmy to the residence. Investigation revealed that Watson was driving on a suspended driver's license for failure to pay child support. Further investigation revealed that Watson has numerous convictions for driving on a suspended/revoked license. Watson was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Both Watson and Holden were transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Watson's bail was set at $1,500 and Holden's was $2,500. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver. The victim was pronounced deceased by medical personnel while Troopers were enroute. Investigation revealed that Diane V. Tucker, age 80, of Willow, passed away due to natural causes. The State Medical Examiner's Office was contacted and investigation revealed no signs of foul play. The Medical Examiner released the remains to the family. Next of kin was present at the time of death. The Cremation Society of Alaska responded to provide final services. The male initially gave a false name to Troopers, but was later determined to be Paul Lashure. Investigation revealed Lashure had an outstanding arrest warrant for the original charge of MICS 4. When Lashure was informed he was under arrest, he resisted arrest with force and attempted to bite the arm of the arresting Trooper. Lashure was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of two good Samaritans inside the store. A search of Lashure revealed a syringe containing oxycodone and one and a half oxycodone pills. Lashure was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on the warrant as well as additional charges of MICS 4, Assault 4, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and False Information, and was held on $5000 bail plus CATPC. Iran Susunaga, 36 yoa of Nome and Tyler Hill, 20 yoa of South Carolina were hunting near Salmon Lake and were due back to Nome on the evening of 4-29-13. After receiving the SPOT distress signal, Nome Search and Rescue along with a National Guard Blackhawk were dispatched to search the area near Salmon Lake. At approximately 1034 hours, AST was notified that both persons had been located. Tyler Hill was severely hypothermic and was immediately flown to Nome via the Blackhawk and taken to Norton Sound Health Clinic (NSHC) for treatment. Iran Susunaga did not have any life threatening injuries and was transported back to Nome with the assistance of Nome Search and Rescue. Tyler Hill was later released from NSHC after receiving treatment for hypothermia. The driver was identified as Zachary Simpson (age 19 of Palmer) by AK ID. Simpson admitted to not having a valid license. Passengers were identified as Aurora Berberich (age 26 of Palmer), and James Wagner (age 31 of Palmer). Investigation confirmed Simpson's license was revoked and he had been advised. It also revealed he had two outstanding $500 AST warrants for fail to appear. Investigation also revealed Berberich and Wagner were in possession of marijuana. Berberich and Wagner were issued a misdemeanor citations for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6 (MICS 6) and released from the scene. The complainant advised the occupants of the van were drinking Vodka and there were small children in the vehicle. AST located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near mile 101 Seward Hwy. Investigation revealed the driver Anthony Jenkins-Alexie (age 25 of Anchorage) was under the influence of alcohol and there was an open container in the vehicle. AST investigation revealed a 1997 GMC Sierra, driven by Zane Miller, age 17 of Soldotna was traveling east on College Loop Road and failed to yield to a 1993 Geo Metro traveling north on K-Beach Road, driven by Christopher Colelli, age 28 of Soldotna. After an investigation troopers cited Jeffery Peele, 51, of Hydaburg for illegal possession of undersize and female king crab. He was issued a citation with an optional court appearance with a $360 fine. Seven king crab were seized and donated to Klawock elders. The investigation revealed George Murdaugh, 36 YOA, from Metlakatla, was retrieving and taking Dungeness crab from the crab pots that did not belong to him. He was also observed operating more than the legal limit of Dungeness crab gear, and personal use fish without a valid sport fishing license. Murdaugh was issued a mandatory summons to appear in Ketchikan Court on May 14th 2013 at 1300 hours, for retrieving another person's crab pots without permission, operating more than five Dungeness crab pots at one time, unlawful possession, and theft. He was also issued a $210 bailable citation for personal use fishing without a valid sports fishing license. In addition, no personal floatation devices and no vessel registration. Text: On 04/20/2013, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Ketchikan Post and with the assistance of the United States Coast Guard conducted an investigation into reports of crab pots being tampered with in Bostwick Inlet. The investigation revealed Michael Dangeli, 21 YOA, Kyle Somers, 25 YOA, and Tyler Close, 20 YOA all from Metlakatla were retrieving and taking Dungeness crab from the crab pots that did not belong to them. They were also observed retaining undersize Dungeness crab, and personal use fishing without a valid sports fish license. All three individuals were issued a mandatory summons to appear in Ketchikan Court on May 14th 2013 at 1300 hours, for retrieving another person's crab pots without their permission and unlawful possession. They were also each issued $130 bailable citations for retaining undersize Dungeness crab, and $210 bailable citations for personal use fishing without a valid sports fishing license. The operator of the vessel, Michael Dangeli, was also issued two boating safety citations for no personal floatation devices for each person on board and failed to have his vessel registered. The voyage was terminated and vessel was escorted back to Metlakatla. Investigation revealed Brandon C. Finn, age 18 of Sitka, had failed to collect and salvaged the hides of at least three marten he trapped at the end of the trapping season 2/15/13. Finn was cited with one count of failing to salvage the hide of a marten. An arraignment is set in Sitka District Court. Brown was issued a $210 bailable citation. Author: AGF9 Received Tuesday, April 30, 2013 1:30 PM and posted Tuesday, April 30, 2013 1:24 PM Location: Yakutat Case Number: 12-03465 Type: Take game from a boat (x3), Unlawful Possession (x4) Text: On 4-29-13, Rube L. Evens, age 58 of Yakutat was charged with two counts of talking big game from a boat and three counts of unlawful possession of illegally taken game. Rube M. Evens, age 29 of Yakutat was charged with one count of unlawful possession of illegally taken game. Charges are also pending against a Utah resident for taking big game from a boat. The charges stemmed from a combined investigation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Forest Service, US Park Service and the Utah Division of Wildlife in which it was found that between 2008 and 2011 several black bears had been illegally killed by hunters shooting from boats. Yakutat is within Game Management Unit 5 and it is illegal to shoot big game from a boat in GMU's 1-5. Alfred Schack of Ohio has already pled guilty to one count of shooting a black bear from a boat in connection with this investigation. Arraignment is set for May 9, 2013 in the Yakutat district court.
