Both Ladd and Morey were contacted in a 1993 Subaru on Big Lake Road following a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Investigation determined Ladd was driving on a revoked driver's license (DWLR) and also had a misdemeanor warrant issued for his arrest for DWLR. Morey was a passenger in the vehicle and had two outstanding warrants issued for his arrest; a felony warrant for probation violation and a misdemeanor warrant for DWLR. Both Ladd and Morey were taken into custody and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial facility. Ladd was held on $250 bail for the new DWLR charge and $500 bail for the warrant. Morey was held on $5000 bail plus CATP for the probation warrant and $250 bail for the DWLR warrant. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver. Nicholai Alakayak 74, of Manokotak was reported to have traveled south from Manokotak toward Cape Constantine to bird hunt and failed to return by dark. Three searchers on snowmachines left the village of Manokotak shortly after 0100 hours. At approximately 0700 hours, searchers reported finding Alakayak with his broke down snowmachine near the Nicholas Hill. Alakayak was reported to be in good condition. Searchers planned to assist Alakayak with his disabled machine and backtrack toward Manokotak. AST would like to thank the search and rescue volunteers in Manokotak. Alaska State Troopers responded and investigation revealed that Alfred Kvamme age 23 of Aniak, assaulted a family member causing injury. Kvamme was arrested and transported to Bethel where he was remanded into YKCC without bail. A crew member of the F/V Taurus reported waking up at approximately 0550 hours and finding the skipper, Marvin H. Love Jr, 46 of King Cove, missing. The U.S. Coast Guard was contacted and started a response. At approximately 1154 hours, the crew of a Good Samaritan vessel, the Amanda Dawn, reported locating Love's body in the water approximately a mile from where the Taurus was moored near Belkofski. The King Cove Police Department assisted due to response distance and contacted the State Medical Examiner's office. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing. Investigation revealed Benjamin Ulen (45 YOA of Fairbanks) was driving his 2001 Ford Explorer southbound when he lost control on the icy roads. The vehicle went into the ditch and overturned. Ulen and two minor passengers were injured in the collision and transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The vehicles were towed from the scene. Seatbelts were worn by all occupants. Investigation revealed suspect(s) forced open a door on the cabin, dumped out drawers, and took several small items valuing approximately $100. The three sheds had lock and hasps and the hasps had been pried from the buildings. Damage to the three sheds and the cabin door is estimated at $300 total. Investigation is ongoing.
