A Detachment ----------------------------------- Location: Ketchikan Case number: AK13030647 Type: Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the 1st Degree Text: On 05/08/13 at 1932 hours, the Alaska State Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue GMC Suburban near mile 12 of the North Tongass Highway. The vehicle failed to yield and accelerated at a high rate of speed and continued to the end of Cranberry Court where the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A suspect has been developed and the case is currently under investigation. Text: On 5/9/13 at approximately 1425 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Klawock observed a 2002 Dodge Ram travelling southbound near mile 15 of Boundary Road. The vehicle was speeding and towing a trailer with no evidence of registration. Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as a Klawock man. Investigation revealed that the driver had approximately 4.5 ounces of marijuana in his vehicle. A felony charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree will be forwarded to the District Attorney's office against the man. Sheridan Circle, in Wasilla in an attempt to locate Laura Cook, age 47, of Wasilla who was wanted for an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant. Cook was contacted at the residence and subsequently placed under arrest for failure to comply with alcohol screening on the original charge of DUI. Cook was remanded into the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held on $2500 bail. Troopers contacted Cole Liptak, age 31 of Wasilla, who had three outstanding warrants for failure to appear and failure to remand. Troopers responded to the village. Troopers were unable to locate the vehicle or the male. During the investigation Troopers came across two individuals who had outstanding warrants. Allen Chuitt age 53 of Tyonek was arrested for a $500 warrant for Failing to Appear. Gregg Mccord age 28 of Tyonek was arrested for a $2,000 warrant for Contempt of Court. The complainant reported he was missing $240 in cash from a tote in his unlocked garage. A black Ford Explorer was seen leaving the area earlier in the day and was thought to be involved. White was fined $4000 with $2000 suspended, and ordered to pay resitution of $300 for the two undersized King Salmon, for a total of $2300. White was additionally placed on probation for one year. On 4/25/13, Alaska Wildlife Troopers - Sitka Post, contacted 32YO Frank White of Haines, the captain of the F/V Triad, as he was offloading King Salmon caught during the Commercial Winter Troll Season. Investigation revealed that White had retained two King Salmon under 28 inches in length. The fish were seized and White was cited for retaining the undersize King Salmon while participating in the commercial troll fishery. White has a mandatory court appearence in Sitka District Court. Author: JTA0 Received Thursday, May 09, 2013 8:09 AM and posted Thursday, May 09, 2013 8:59 AM -------------------------------------------- Location: Sitka Incident number: AK13025486 Type: Tamper With Shellfish Gear, Violate Conditions of Release ***SENTENCING*** Text: On 5/7/13, as part of a plea agreement with the Sitka District Attorney's Office, Ryan Peters and Michael Matz pled guilty to one count each of Tampering with Shellfish Gear, a misdemeanor. They were ordered to pay $1000 with $500 suspended, and placed on probation for 1 year. As part of their probation they were ordered not to operate any shellfish gear, or be present when shellfish gear was being operated. On 3/28/13, Sitka Alaska Wildlife Troopers received a report of persons tampering with shellfish gear in the area of Camp Coogan. Investigation revealed that 22YO Ryan Peters, 21YO Dorcy Hatmaker, and 19YO Michael Matz, all of Sitka, had retrieved a Dungeness Crab Pot that did not belong to them, nor did they have permission to retrieve. Sitka AWT receives numerous complaints of this sort of activity throughout the year. Investigation also revealed that Hatmaker was on current conditions of release from Sitka District Court. Peters and Matz were issued summons for Tampering with Shellfish Gear and have mandatory court appearances in Sitka District Court. Hatmaker was arrested on a warrant for Tampering with Shellfish Gear and Violating Conditions of Release. Investigation revealed that Vuylsteke was in possession of an over-limit of Non-Pelagic Rockfish. The over-limit of fish was seized, and Vuylsteke was issued a $130 citation in Sitka District Court for taking an over-limit of Non-Pelagic Rockfish.
