A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Coffman Cove Case number: AK13031489 Type: DUI, Fail to Give Notice of MVC Text: On 5/12/2013 at approximately 0045 hours, Klawock AST received a report that a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee had collided with a power pole in the Community of Coffman Cove. The AP & T power pole fell to the ground and exposed power lines, which obstructed the roadway. AP & T was notified and responded to safety clear the scene of the power lines. Witnesses on scene observed two males and a dog exit the vehicle and walk away. Witnesses claimed that the men appeared to be intoxicated. Subsequent investigation revealed that the Jeep Grand Cherokee was registered to Nicholas Staller, 25 years old of Anchorage. Klawock Troopers responded to Coffman Cove and located Staller at a residence. Upon contacting Staller an odor of alcoholic beverages was detected on his person. Staller was asked to perform Standard Field Sobriety Test, which he subsequently failed. AST was also able to identify the other male passenger of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and confirm that he had not sustained any injury from the collision. Staller was arrested and transported to the Craig City Jail where he was remanded for Driving under the Influence and Failing to Immediately Report an Accident. He was later released on his own recognizance and assigned an arraignment date in the Craig District Court. It is estimated that AP & T's Coffman Cove grid sustained approximately $7000 in damages as a result of this incident. Both Staller and his passenger claimed to be wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision and reported no injuries. The 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee was a total loss and was later towed from the scene. James Holzworth, age 63 of Wasilla, was found deceased by a family me mber. Holzworth died as a result of natural causes and no foul play is susp ected. Upon arrival Troopers contacted Bryan Fish, age 35 of Palmer. Investigation revealed Fish had damaged the property of his roommates. Total damages were approximately $300. Chanar (69 yrs). Chanar's wife called health aides at about 0400 hours when Chanar was unresponsive and appeared to have succumbed to numerous ailments he was suffering. Chanar was declared deceased at 0423 hours after CPR was done, but Chanar remained unresponsive. Next of kin were present. Toksook Bay VPO Abraham John was present and nothing suspicious was noted. The SME's office was notified. YKHC had confirmed Chanar's medical condition. Chanar's body was released to the family per the SME. The cab driver completed a Private Person Arrest Form and Minano was arrested for Theft in the Fourth Degree. AST remanded Minano to the Fairbanks Correctional Center. Saltz was operating an early 2000's model sport utility vehicle in the Girdwood area and stopped for a moving violation. Saltz was issued a traffic citation for the moving violation. Troopers responded and verified that there was between 50-100 dead Yellow-Eye rockfish in the area. The fish appeared to had been caught elsewhere, then dumped in the area. The investigation is ongoing. Investigation revealed that both men had retained a Ling Cod. The Sport Fish season for Ling Cod does not open until May 16th. Both men were issued $160 citations in Sitka District Court for taking Ling Cod during a closed season. Dejanakul, age 26, of Sitka after he was contacted returning to Crescent Harbor from sport fishing. Investigation revealed Dejanakul had retained a lingcod during a closed season. Sport fishing for lingcod does not open until May 16th in the Southeast Alaska Area. Dejanakul was cited, with bail set at $160 in Sitka District Court. The lingcod was seized and donated to a local charity. Investigation found that Charliaga made false statements as to material facts concerning his 2012, 2010, 2009 and 2008 commercial crewmembers licenses. Charliaga also made a false statement as to a material fact on his 2011 sport fish license. Charliaga was issued AUC's for the commercial offenses with an arraignment date of 6/7/13 in Kodiak District Court. Charliaga was also issued a bailable AUC for the sport fish license violation. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: Sutton Case number: AK13031274 Type: DUI, MOCA, MCA x 4 Text: On 05-11-13, at 0305 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to assist Palmer Patrol Troopers with a traffic stop on the Glenn Hwy at Jonesville Mine Rd. The driver was identified as Brandan T. Angel, age 18, of Anchorage. An investigation revealed Angel was operating his 1996 Land Rover Discovery while impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest for DUI. Angel was also charge with MCA and MOCA for being under 20 years of age and consuming alcohol and operating a vehicle while being a minor and then operating a motor vehicle. Angel was then transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $500 bail. Passengers in Angel's vehicle, identified as an 19-year-old Palmer woman and two Anchorage juveniles, were consuming alcohol while being under the age of 21. Charges for MCA will be forwarded to the Palmer District Attorney's Office. An investigation showed that the driver, Aaron Drake 20 of Palmer, was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and while his driver's license was suspended. Further investigation showed that Anickie Ivanov, 19 of Palmer, had consumed alcohol while being under the age of 21 and was in violation of conditions of release on another criminal matter. A 17-year-old male of Palmer was also found to have consumed alcohol while being under the age of 21. Drake was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial on charges of DUI, DWLS, MCA, and MOCA.
