Investigation revealed that Roberta Whitesides, age 51 years o f Ketchikan was involved in a disturbance during a youth football game and was attempting to drive away when Troopers arrived on scene. Investigati on further revealed that Whitesides's driver's license was suspended and sh e was driving impaired. During the contact Whitesides resisted arrest an d attempted to kick out the window of a patrol car. Whitesides was arres ted for DUI, DWLS, Refusal to submit to a chemical test, resisting arrest a nd attempted criminal mischief in the third degree. Whitesides was reman ded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center, where she was released on her own recognizance. Investigation revealed that Thode's driver's license was currently revoked. Thode was issued a summons for DWLR and citation for failure to carry insurance. Troopers arranged for a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the ditch. Investigation revealed Weeg had an outstanding AST arrest warrant for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Probation on the origina l charge of Burglary in the 1st Degree. Subsequently, Weeg was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Weeg was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial, and held with bail set at $10,000. Troopers contacted Kayela Nielsen, age 19 of Wasilla at the residence. Investigation revealed that Nielsen had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for failure to appear original charge of misuse of plates. Nielsen was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held on $100 bail. During the investigation AST contacted Skyler Gatter, 21, of Kodiak, and Ricardo Cruz, 20, also of Kodiak who were located at the scene. Skyler and Cruz assaulted the responding trooper. Both were subdued and arrested for Assault IV, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. They were lodged at the Kodiak Jail to await arraignment. Fairbanks AST Patrol with the assistance of Fairbanks ABI responded to the scene and found a deceased adult male. No visible signs of foul play were discovered and the body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. AST is waiting to release the identity of the male until after next of kin is verified and notified. Investigation is ongoing pending the outcome of the autopsy. Received Friday, September 21, 2012 12:21 PM and posted Friday, September 21, 2012 12:52 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------ Location: Mile 270 Parks Highway Case Number: AK12237159 Type: Attempted murder / Assault UPDATE: Alaska State Troopers have identified the victims who reported they had been assaulted this morning near mile 270 of the Parks Highway. Investigation revealed that Brenton A. Green, age 21 of Anchorage and Kimberly J. Scharber, age 21 of Wasilla were at a cabin when they were confronted by a man armed with a handgun. The man threatened both victims and shot Green twice. Both Green and Scharber fled the area and reported the incident to Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks at about 0645 hours. Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers including a K-9 Team and members of the Special Emergency Reaction Team from Fairbanks, Healy, Cantwell and Palmer all responded to the area and established a perimeter. At approximately noon when members of the Special Emergency Reaction Team attempted to arrest the armed suspect, two State Troopers fatally shot the suspect. The suspect has tentatively been identified as Atom Ziniewicz, age 34 of Falls Church, Virginia. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has responded to conduct an investigation into the incident. The State Trooper?s names are being withheld for 72 hours in accordance with department policy. An autopsy will be performed on Monday by the State Medical Examiner?s Office. Ziniewicz?s family members have been notified of the incident. UPDATE: At approximately 1200 hours, the Alaska State Troopers encountered the shooting suspect. The suspect was armed. AST fired upon the suspect. The suspect is now deceased. Additional details of the circumstances surrounding the encounter and the identity of the suspect are under investigation. Travel along the Parks Highway in this area is now unrestricted. Type: On 9-21-12 at approximately 0645 hours, Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a shooting near mile 270 of the Parks Highway. An adult male victim and an adult female victim were able to flee from their attacker and call for help. The male victim received at least one gunshot wound and has been transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment. The female was attended to by responding medical personnel but was not transported to a medical facility. Troopers from Fairbanks and Palmer, including members of the Special Emergency Reaction Team, have responded to the area. State Troopers have established two checkpoints along the Parks Highway with the assistance from personnel of Clear Air Force Base. One highway checkpoint is located at mile 267 of the Parks Hwy. The other highway checkpoint is set up at mile 276 of the Parks Hwy. Motorists traveling along the highway are cautioned to not stop, not pick up hitchhikers and if they see any suspicious activity to report it to troopers at the next checkpoint. Sjogren, age 37 of Kenai contacted Alaska State Troopers dispatch in Fairbanks via his satellite phone to report that he and his hunting partner, Kimberly W. Wannamaker, age 51 of Kenai were stranded on the Robertson River. Alaska Wildlife Troopers launched a helicopter from Fairbanks to the scene and rescued the hunters. They were transported back to their vehicles near Dry Creek in good condition. Investigation revealed that Herman Becker age 48 of Tok, failed to yield to oncoming traffic while entering the Alaska Hwy intersect ion with the Tok Cut off Hwy and subsequently collided with a vehicle drive n by Bradley Sinyon age 58 of Valdez. Thomassen plead guilty to one count of commercial fishing closed waters and one count of Retaining Undersized Golden King Crab.
