Stocker stated they had landed two aircraft on a gravel bar in the Talkeetna River near Yellow Jacket Creek but due to severe weather and rapidly rising water were unable to take off, had no flotation devices, and were unable to make it to shore. Water continued to rise and reached the aircraft. Stocker was able to provide GPS coordinates. Initial rescue attempts by Alaska ANG helicopter were aborted due to severe weather conditions. On 9-21-12 at 0620 hours AST Helo 1 responded and recovered all three subjects who declined medical treatment. Stocker and Woodward will attempt to recover their aircraft when conditions improve. Troopers responded to Hooper Bay and contacted the on scene Physician who was identified as Jim Deitle. Deitle reported that CCSF Collapsed at school at approximately 1400 hours. CCSF was transported to the Hooper Bay Clinic where she succumbed to respiratory failure and passed away. Next of Kin was on scene and notified. Investigation continues. Dillingham AST assisted Lake Clark National Park in their initial response. Investigation revealed Anthony Alsworth, age 35 of Anchorage, was piloting his blue and white Piper Supercub that afternoon when he crashed during takeoff from a mountain top in the Port Alsworth area. There was one juvenile passenger on board. Both occupants suffered only minor injuries and were evacuated from the scene by helicopter. Lawrence Lee (age 75 of Dillingham), Betty Lee (age 63 of Dillingham), and Kathren Tunguing (age 87 of Dillingham) reported they were driving a boat from Koliganek to a remote cabin on the Nushagak River but became extremely cold, and unable to continue to navigate the river due to the conditions. They reported they were unable to get shelter or start a fire and reported they were becoming hypothermic. A charter helicopter was dispatched by AST from King Salmon. Prior to the helicopter arrival in the area, a local hunting guide located the endangered party and transported them to his camp where they reported the party of three was in stable condition and not in need of any medical treatment. Albert, 27 of Fairbanks, and Olanda N. Thompson, 29 of Ft. Wainwright in a vehicle on College Road in Fairbanks. Ruedevora was subsequently arrested for violating conditions of her probation and Olanda was subsequently arrested for Misconduct Involving a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.
