The caller stated that a man had tried to cross Butte Creek on an ATV and had been swept downstream and disappeared. AWT requested assistance from Helo-1 and Helo-2 to search for the lost man. All of the hunters stranded at the location had been previously identified by AWT over the last couple of days. Helo-1 was unable to reach the search area due to weather. Helo-2 was able to respond from Fairbanks but was not able to locate the lost man anywhere along the creek or in the adjacent Susitna River. It was determined that the victim had likely drowned. The victim has been identified as Bart Barnes, 51 of Wasilla. Next of Kin has been notified.
