While on-scene, Troopers also contacted 23-year-old Tiffany Van Doren of Wasilla, and arrested her for an outstanding arrest warrant on the original charges of robbery, theft and assault. Both Marostica-Mistler and VanDoren were arrested, transported, and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial on $2500 bail each. The guide reported that he and a hunter observed a small aircraft attempting land on the lake when the aircraft flipped over and began to sink. No one was observed to exit the aircraft while it was sinking. The guide watched the area of the incident and has not observed a nyone in the water since the crash. Alaska State Troopers have preliminary information regarding the identity of the aircraft and pilot, but will not release further information until a Trooper can arrive on scene and confirm the information. Alaska State Troopers were unable to fly to the lake to conduct an investigation on 10/7/12 due to darkness and fog in the area. Response efforts on 10/8/12, have also been hampered due to weather conditions in the area. The NTSB and FAA were notified. Investigation revealed that Eddie strangled his girlfriend causing her to lose consciousness and caused physical injury to his girlfriend. Eddie has also been twice convicted within the last ten years of Assault 4/ causing physical injury to another which caused one of the charges to be upgraded to Assault 3. Investigation revealed the driver, Joseph Grapengeter, age 33, of Delta Junction was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed Grapengeter was in possession of firearms while his physical and mental condition was impaired by an intoxicating liquor and had two prior DUI convictions within the last ten years. The complainants could hear loud yelling and screaming, accompanied with loud banging noises. Troopers responded to the area and made contact with Clinton Lageson, 28, of Kenai who was apparently intoxicated. Clinton was combative and Troopers were forced to deploy OC pepper spray to subdue him. Clinton was subsequently placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility. Investigation revealed that a silver 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup operated by Dylan T. Williams, age 17 of Homer was traveling west bound when he was driving too fast for conditions, attempted to make a right turn and slid around a corner, causing him to collide with a blue, 2007 Chevrolet Silverado operated by John L. Birgel, age 58 of Homer who was also south bound while attempting to left turn onto Wilderness Lane from Walters Street. Alaska State Troopers responded to the area and retrieved a sweatshirt Sifsof was reportedly wearing the day she was last seen. The sweatshirt was located a half mile downriver from the Granite Creek Campground. At the end of August, a kayaker reported finding a shirt that belonged to Sifsof and suspected to be on her when she disappeared. Both clothing items were found in the same general area of Six Mile Creek. The area has been inundated with rains and high water conditions since the shirt was discovered in August. On Oct. 1, an Alaska State Trooper flew over the area in search of Sifsof and counted four large log jams in vicinity where the clothing was found. AST will search the area using cadaver dogs as soon as conditions allow. Original text: On 7/11/12 at approximately 1135 hours it was reported to the Alaska State Troopers that Valerie Sifsof, 43 of Anchorage, was missing. Sifsof was out camping on 7/7/2012 at Granite Creek Campground located near mile 64 of the Seward Highway. Sifsof reportedly was upset and walked away from the campsite around midnight. The person camping with Sifsof attempted to locate her before leaving the campground around noon on 7/8/2012. Sifs of reportedly left her keys, ID and cellphone at the campground. After she failed to contact family and friends or return home, Sifsof was reported missing. Helo 1 with an AMRG is searching the area. MATSAR with search dogs are en route to the area. Investigation revealed Joseph Essex, 28, of Anchor Point was riding a 2005 Buell motorcycle, north bound on the Sterling Highway with a passenger, Shannon Smith, 20, of Anchor Point. A 2005 Chevrolet truck, driven by Laura Owens, 59, of Homer turned left from the Diamond Ridge Road onto the Sterling Highway heading south bound and in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the pickup causing Essex to lose control and crash. Both Essex and Smith were wearing helmets. The driver and passenger of the pickup were wearing seatbelts. KESA, Kachemak Emergency Services responded to the scene. Essex was transported to CPH, Central Peninsula Hospital, via air ambulance for major injuries, KESA transported Smith to SPH, South Peninsula Hospital with minor injuries. The investigation began on 8-26-12 when another hunter came across a moose carcass on Tall Tree Avenue north of Anchor Point and contacted Wildlife Troopers. The bull had been shot and died in the middle of the roadway. Investigation revealed Reynolds had shot the moose in the early morning hours on 8-26-12 and after measuring the antlers at less than 50 inches; he left the area without salvaging any of the meat. An investigation by Troopers revealed that Robison claimed to be an Alaska Resident on 2011 and 2012 Sport Fishing License Applications, while not meeting the qualifications for Resident Sport Fish Licenses. An investigation revealed that (4) 1.75L bottles of distilled spirits were being sent from California to Chefornak by a minor under 21 years old to an adult male. Chefornak is a local option community that has voted to ban the importation and sale of alcoholic beverages. Charges of Importation of Alcohol and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor will be forwarded to the Office of Special Prosecutions. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: Palmer Case number: AK12241191 Type: Motor vehicle collision with serious injuries Text: On 10-07-12, at 1633 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team, Talkeetna Patrol Troopers and Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services responded to a report of a motor vehicle head on collision at mile 66 of the Parks Hwy. Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services arrived on scene and reported they were actively working to free an entrapped driver. Troopers arrived on scene and an investigation revealed Leeann Rodgers, age 55, of Houston was driving her 1986 Toyota Camry northbound on the Parks Hwy. when she crossed the center line and crashed into a 2005 Volkswagen sedan being operated by Ronald Palmer, age 75, of Wasilla who was traveling south bound. The collision occurred on a stretch of roadway where guardrails were present on both sides of the road and Palmer attempted to avoid the collision by striking the guardrail but was unable to fully move out of Rodgers way. Palmer sustained minor injuries during the crash and was transported by EMS to Mat-Su Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. Palmer reported wearing his safety belt and the airbags in his Volkswagen deployed during the crash. Rodgers was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital by EMS with serious injuries and has since been transferred to Anchorage Regional Hospital where she is reported to be in critical condition at this time. Family members have been notified and are on scene at the Hospital with Rodgers. Rodgers was wearing a safety belt at the time of the collision. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this case. Troopers believe either a medical emergency or distracted driving may be the cause of the collision. Troopers are continuing to investigate the collision.
