A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Ketchikan Incident number: AK12241900 Type: Missing Person & Death Investigation Text: On 10/10/12 at approximately 1700 hours AST Ketchikan was notified of a missing person in Meyer's Chuck. According to family members, Timothy Collins, age 61 of Meyers Chuck had unexpectedly went missing from his home. On 10/11/12AST and AWT troopers responded to Meyers Chuck and located Timothy Collins deceased in a wooded area nearby his home. Next of kin has been notified. No foul play is suspected. The body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. Norwood and Bastian had boated to Green Lake on 10/9/12, and they were scheduled to return to Sitka on 10/11/12, at 0900 hours. At 1803 hours, a USCG helicopter with SMR team members on-board spotted Norwood and Bastian approximately 2 miles from Green Lake and they were able to contact them on their VHF radio. Norwood and Bastian reported that they were uninjured and that they had been slowed down by the terrain in returning to Green Lake. At 2245 hours, Norwood, Bastian, and a SMR team returned safely to Sitka. Norman Avenue in regards to an outstanding $20,000 felony arrest warrant for the original charges of Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Trespassing. McGuire was arrested, transported, and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial without incident. While at the residence, Troopers contacted Andrea J. Field, age 21 of Anchorage. Investigation revealed Field had caused injury to a female and damaged the property of a family member in excess of $1,000. Further investigation revealed Field had an outstanding warrant for $100 cash for Failure to Satisfy Judgment on the original charge of habitual MCA. Martin Fleming, age 41 of Anchorage, was also contacted at the residence. Investigation revealed Fleming was acting in violation of his parole. Field and Fleming were arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where they were both remanded without bail. Investigation revealed, a 2009 Toyota Camry driven by Diana Whipple, age 51 of Palmer, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 2002 GMC pickup, driven by Robert Carter, age 33 of Palmer. Both vehicles are estimated to be totaled. Neither of the drivers reported injuries. Whipple was issued a citation for failure to stop for a stop sign. Charliaga refused to comply with VPSO requests and was given a Disorderly Conduct warning. Charliaga continued and was subsequently detained. Kelly was on conditions of release which include to not consume alcohol. The Ouzinkie VPSO responded to Kelly's residence and contacted Flora Shanagin, age 22 of Ouzinkie, hiding Kelly. Further investigation revealed Kelly was intoxicated, violating her conditions of release. Shanagin committed Hindering Prosecution II by attempting to hide Kelly which also violated Shanagin's conditions of release. Kelly was arrested for VCOR. Shanagin was arrested for VCOR and Hindering Prosecution II. Both were transported to Kodiak Police Department Jail where no bail was set. Abbett's next of kin was present when he passed. The Medical Examiner has taken possession of his remains and will conduct an autopsy. Original text: On 10/3/12 at 2016 hours AST Fairbanks Post received a report of an unknown injury crash south of the intersection of the Steese Highway and the Old Steese Highway between the Howling Dog Bar and the Silver Gulch Brewery. Investigation revealed that Daniel Abbett (54 YOA, Wasilla) was travelling south bound on the Steese Highway in an older model Dodge pickup. Abbett lost control of his truck and crashed. Abbett was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries. Alcohol was a factor in the crash. A seat belt was not used. As a result of the investigation, 100 grams of heroin, 15 grams of methamphetamine, scales, and packaging materials were seized. Investigators contacted the owner of the residence and identified her as Brenda Cox, age 52 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Cox was responsible for distributing heroin and methamphetamine. Cox was arrested and was remanded into MSPT, where bail was set at $30,000 cash plus a court approved third party custodian. Investigation revealed Erika Forton, age 59 of Wasilla was driving her 2002 black Dodge pickup truck home when she side swiped a parked vehicle and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Forton was arrested for DUI and transported to Mat Su West AST Post where she failed to give a sufficient sample of her breath. Forton was additionally charged with Refusal, was released on her own recognizance and not to operate a motor vehicle till sober. The complainant, a WPD officer who was unable to conduct a traffic stop as he already had a person under arrest in his patrol car, followed the Mercedes until Troopers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the Mercedes and also observed it speeding, crossing the center line and failing to dim its high beams. The driver was identified as Deborah A. Padilla, age 56, of Wasilla. An investigation revealed Padilla was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol and she was placed under arrest for DUI. Padilla was then transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held on $500 bail. The driver was identified as Michael H. Swan, age 23, of Palmer. An investigation revealed Swan was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest for DUI. Swan was then transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $500 bail. Troopers identified the driver as Nathan L. Adams, age 45, of Wasilla. An investigation revealed Adams was operating the vehicle with a revoked driver's license stemming from a felony DUI conviction with his revocation lasting until the year 2060. Adams was also found to be on Felony Probation for Felony DUI. Adams was placed under arrest for driving on a revoked driver's license and violating his probation. Adams was transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail pending arraignment. Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team responded to the location of the traffic stop where the driver was identified as Abigail L. McDonald, age 25, of Anchorage. An investigation revealed McDonald was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol and she was placed under arrest for DUI. McDonald later refused to provide a sample of breath into the DMT Datamaster and was subsequently charged with refusal of a chemical test.
