Text: On 10/19/12 at 0500 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Klawock responded to a DV in progress in the village of Hydaburg. Investigation revealed that Allen G. Dilts, age 20 of Hydaburg, had been consuming alcohol and assaulted a family member at his residence in Hydaburg. Dilts was placed under arrest for Assault in the Fourth Degree-DV and Minor Consuming Alcohol. Dilts was remanded into the Craig Jail Facility without bail. Investigation reveled that Philip E. Neal, age 61 of Wasilla had assaulted his girlfriend with a baseball bat, creating a substantial risk of injury to two children in the residence. Investigation showed that the HumVee, driven by Breyani M. Robinson, 19 of Ft Richardson, had slid past the stop sign and into the roadway of the Richardson Hwy at Meadows Rd. A 2003 Subaru Legacy, driven by Carol J. Crandall, 67 of Delta Jct, was travelling north on the Richardson Hwy and had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the HumVee. The Subaru slid out of control off the roadway and into the trees at the edge of the highway. There were no injuries. Robinson was cited for Basic Speed/Speed for Conditions. Investigation showed that a 1998 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by Aaron J. Apling-Gilman, 33 of Delta Jct, had overturned after it had slid out of control off the west side of the highway. Apling-Gilman had been driving in excess of the posted speed limit and in 'cruise-control' on very slick and snowy roads. The truck slid out of control while negotiating a tight curve. Apling-Gilman received minor injuries and was transported to Delta Family Medical Center by Ft Greely Fire and Ambulance crews. Apling-Gilman will be cited with Basic Speed/Speed for Conditions. Investigation determined that Adrian Cofey, age 43, of North Pole passed away due to natural causes while incarcerated. The State Medical Examiner's Office and the next of kin were notified. The female was contacted and consent to inspect the contents was received. A subsequent search of the parcel resulted in the seizure of eight (8) 750 ml bottles of R&R whisky. The investigation is continuing by the WAANT unit in an attempt to identify the sender.
