A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Ketchikan Case number: AK12246033 Type: NVOL, Permit an Unauthorized Person to Drive Text: On 10-28-12 Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. Investigation revealed that the juvenile operating the vehicle did not have a valid driver's license. It was also discovered the parents of the juvenile allowed the juvenile to take and drive the vehicle. The juvenile was summonsed for operating a vehicle without a driver's license. The father, 60 yoa Christopher Boca Sr. of Ketchikan, was summonsed for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle. Investigation revealed that David Bergeron, age 20 of Ketchikan, and Shannon Tibbs, age 20 of Oregon, were in possession of a small amount of Marijuana. Further Investigation revealed that Bergeron was on Conditions of Release. Bergeron was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 6th Degree. S. Tibbs was issued a summons at the scene and released. Of Instructional Permit Text: On 10-22-2012 at approximately 0500 hours, Klawock AST responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch off the Coffman Cove Road. When AST arrived on scene, it was discovered that a 1994 Jeep Cherokee had slid off icy roads and left unoccupied. Blood was present on the interior of the vehicle near the driver's side. Subsequent investigation revealed that Julia Higbee, 19 years old of Coffman Cove, had been operating the vehicle at the time of the crash. It was also discovered that Higbee was operating the vehicle in violation of her instructional permit and was issued a summons for this. She was also issued citations for not wearing a seat belt and no proof of insurance. The Jeep sustained disabling damage in the accident. C Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Kiana Case number: AK12245558 Type: VCOR, Arrest Warrant Text: On 10-26-12, at approximately 2100 hours, Kotzebue based State Troopers were conducting a patrol in the village of Kiana. Troopers received a tip that Leon Johnson, age 26, of Kiana was at his residence with a person whom he is on conditions of release not to have contact with. Upon contacting Johnson at his residence the other person was in the residence. Johnson was arrested and taken to the Kiana holding facility. Further investigation disclosed Johnson had an active arrest warrant issued out of the Kotzebue court. The warrants original charge was Assault 4th DV. Johnson is being held without bail pending arraignment on charges of violating a condition of his release and the active arrest warrant. Jackson was arrested and taken to the Kiana holding facility and later transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail. Jackson was held without bail pending arraignment. Investigation revealed that Cody McCall, the pilot and sole occupant of the airplane, experienced mechanical problems and was forced to make an emergency landing. McCall was not injured. Due to weather and the conditions of the Yukon River, a rescue attempt could not be launched until daylight on 10/28/12. McCall was rescued at about 1300 hours, on 10/28/12 by two boat crews that were sent from Emmonak. Subsequently, VPSO Byerly realized that the f emale had been punched and strangled by Gregory. On the following day at approximately 1150 hours, VPSO Byerly informed Aniak Troopers that Gregory had strangled the woman. Troopers arrested Gregory shortly thereafter o n a felony charge of Assault II-DV and Assault 4-DV. He was transported to Bethel without further incident and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Corr ectional Complex.
