Investigation revealed that Jeremy Orin, age 23 of Ketchikan, was operating a motor vehicle while his license was Revoked. J. AST and the Saxman VPSO responded to the scene and investigation revealed that Jesse Ball, 24 YOA from Saxman, was not suicidal but was under the influence of a controlled substance and in violation of his conditions of release. Ball was arrested and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center. Investigation revealed 21-year-old Stephen Murphy of Ketchikan was driving a 1991 Toyota Celica southbound on the highway when he reportedly passed a vehicle in a no passing zone. Murphy struck the vehicle that he was attempting to overtake as it was slowing to make a turn. The South Tongass Fire Department responded and transported Murphy, the other driver, and a passenger to the Ketchikan Medical Center for reported injuries. Murphy was issued a citation for passing in a no passing zone and was additionally cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Investigation revealed the driver, 22-year-old Richard Bender of Ketchikan, was operating the vehicle without the owner's permission and also while intoxicated. AST discovered that Bender has two prior convictions for DUI and a revoked driver's license. Bender was remanded to KCC on a Felony DUI charge as well as Driving while license is revoked. Troopers were advised that Life Med was unable to launch from Wasilla due to the weather conditions. Troopers contacted the complainant, Judy Price, age 63 of Talkeetna. Price reported she and her husband, Paul Bratton, age 61 of Talkeetna; reside on their homestead outside of Talkeetna near Clear Creek. Price explained the homestead was approximately 15 air miles and 20 trail miles from Downtown Talkeetna. Price reported she believed Bratton was in need of medical assistance. She was informed of the unavailability of Life Med due to weather conditions in Wasilla. Helo 1 responded and picked up 2 medics at Talkeetna Airport and transported them to the location. At approximately 2215 hours, Helo 1 transported Bratton, Price, and the two Talkeetna EMS members to the Talkeetna Airport. Bratton and Price were transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center via ambulance; due to the high winds in Palmer and Wasilla area and unable to land at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Bratton was reported by EMS to be in stable condition. While responding Troopers were informed it was a closed business and was clear. Investigation determined the fire originated in a food trailer behind the Zipline. The trailer was a total loss and there was considerable damage to the Zipline business. There were no injuries and the fire is not suspicious in origin according to the Fire Department. Investigation revealed the driver's California CDL to be invalid. Heorhiy Zhakut, age 57 of Rancho Cordova, CA was issued a citation for speeding and summons for no valid CDL. The truck was turned over to a co-driver with a valid CDL. Investigation revealed the driver Jessica Stanton, age 33 of Copper Center lost control of her vehicle when she attempted to pick up an item off of the vehicle floor. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a rock embankment. Stanton and her 4-year-old son were able to exit the vehicle and walk to the highway where they were picked up by a passerby. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to Crossroad Medical Center for minor injuries. Seatbelts were not used by either party involved during the collision. Stanton was issued citations for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, no proof of insurance, failure to wear a safety belt and failure to properly secure child in child safety device. The property owners of two adjacent properties had caught an individual, later identified as Jack Adams age 28 of Fairbanks, stealing items from one of their garages. The property owners subdued Adams until Troopers arrived on scene. The investigation revealed that Adams had stolen items from both properties. While trying to subdue Adams, one of the property owners was assaulted by Adams. Adams was also found to be in the possession of Crystal Meth and a glass pipe, which he attempted to destroy while being handcuffed. Adams was booked at FCC on the above charges and was also charged with Violation of Conditions of Release from a prior Felony Theft that he had been remanded on the week prior. Investigation revealed Bartholomew Agner, age 26 of Girdwood, accidentally shot himself in the leg with a .40 caliber handgun.
