Subsequent investigation revealed that a male juvenile was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger Pickup when he hit a patch of black ice, crossed over the centerline and collided with the ditch on the opposite side of the road overturning. The male reported that he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision and did not report any injuries. The vehicle sustained moderate damage in the incident and alcohol was not a factor. C Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Kotzebue Case number: AK12250109 Type: Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance Text: On 11-16-12 at approximately 0900 hours, Kotzebue Alaska State Troope rs received a tip regarding marijuana that was being sent to the village of Buckland via a local air carrier. The package was seized at the air carrier. A 26 year old male from Kotzebue was identified as the s ender of the package. The male agreed to let Troopers search the package. The search disclosed marijuana inside the package. The case will be forwarded to the Kotzebue DA for prosecution. Hussein was contacted at the Kodiak State Airport while attempting to depart Kodiak. He was transported to the Kodiak PD Jail where he was remanded without bail. Yukon Case Number: AK12250610 Type: Search and Rescue Text: On 11-19-12 Fort Yukon PD received a call reporting that Raymond CARROLL (56 y/o of Fort Yukon) could not be located. Witnesses report last seeing CARROLL at apx. 1530hrs. riding a borrowed snowmachine, and very intoxicated. Fort Yukon PD and local residents checked the surrounding area in the early morning hours of 11-19-12 but could not locate CARROLL. Beginning just after dawn AST, CAP and the 176 wing of the AK ANG began conducting an air search of likely trails and areas near Fort Yukon while local volunteers conducted a ground search organized with the assistance of the Tribal Council in Fort Yukon. During the afternoon, the snowmachine was found apx. 5 miles northwest of Fort Yukon. Tracks were found leading away for the snowmachine. Following these tracks by air, the crew of an AK ANG HH-60 (PaveHawk) helicopter located CARROLL at 1610hrs. apx. 10 miles north of Fort Yukon. He was transported back to Fort Yukon by ground searchers, evaluated by medical personnel, and returned to his residence in Fort Yukon. As AST was arriving on scene the male suspect ran into the home. The male was identified as 54-year-old Ronald Wilburn of North Pole. AST assisted a female family member out of the house. A short time later Wilburn was contacted in the house and arrested for assaulting the family member. Wilburn was remanded to the Fairbanks Corrections Center (FCC). Author: KSM0 ----------------------------------------------------------- Received Tuesday, November 20, 2012 8:20 PM and posted Tuesday, November 20, 2012 8:21 PM E Detachment ----------------------------------------- Location: Seward Highway Case Number: AK12250782 Type: Attempted warrant arrest/pursuit (UPDATE) Text: At approximately 1330 hours on 11/20/2012, Alaska State Troopers in Girdwood were notified that there was man at the Tesoro gas station in Girdwood reporting he had wrecked his snowmachine in the backcountry and needed medical assistance. This man, later identified as James Lee III, had walked to the road and flagged down a motorist who drove him to the gas station in Girdwood. Lee was transported to a hospital in Anchorage for treatment of hypothermia and exposure. Text: At 1518 hours on 11/19/2012, troopers observed a stolen vehicle in the area of Bird Point that troopers determined was being driven by James Lee III, 36, of Anchorage. Lee has three felony AST warrants with bail totaling $55,000 for theft, vehicle theft, burglary, escape, and fraud. Shortly thereafter troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle at mile 100 of the Seward Highway. The vehicle failed to yield and continued southbound on the Seward Highway. Spike strips were deployed and the stolen truck was stopped at mile 77. Lee immediately fled on foot into the woods on the west side of the Seward Highway between the Placer River and Ingram Creek with AST in pursuit. Lee was last seen actively evading troopers on foot and refusing any type of assistance. He was not dressed for the elements or terrain. AST, the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Marshals and the Anchorage Police Department searched the area with the assistance of Helo-3 for hours with negative results. During the search, a U.S. Forest Service Officer fell and sustained minor injuries. An Alaska State Trooper was also treated for exposure as a precaution. Both were treated at Providence Medical Hospital and released. Troopers continue to search for Lee and are concerned for his safety. AST's R-44 helicopter, Helo-3, is conducting an air search today and troopers are following up on other leads. Anyone with information regarding Lee's whereabouts can call AST at (907)262-4453. S. Williams received $550 in fines. The moose was forfeited to the state and given to charity. He received a total of $4500 in fines plus a $1000 restitution fee for the illegally taken moose. The rifle, ATV, ATV meat cart and radio used in the offense were seized and forfeited to the state of Alaska. J. Hunt's license privileges were suspended for two years and he was placed on a two year probationary period for no fish and wildlife offenses. Scott Bible pled guilty to the charge of illegal methods and means and received $1500 in fines and his license privileges were also suspended for two years.
