A Detachment Location: Ketchikan Case number: AK12252120 Type: Theft III Text: On 11-26-12 at approximately 1309 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan were notified that a 12-14 foot camouflage in color canoe had been stolen. Investigation revealed that sometime around November 9, person(s) unknown took the canoe from the backyard of a residence located in the 2200 block of South Tongass Highway. Hislop, age 22 of Wasilla, who had a $20,000 arrest warrant for failure to comply with probation conditions on the original charge of MICS4. Hislop barricaded himself into the residence and after approximately 3 hours, surrendered and was arrested without incident. Subsequent investigation revealed Hislop, who was already a convicted felon, was in possession of two handguns. Hislop then attempted to conceal a controlled substance which he attempted to introduce into the pre-trail facility. Hislop was remanded to MSPT and held on the $20,000 cash only bail. The fire was outside the fire service area so no fire personnel responded initially. Troopers arrived on scene at approximately 1510 hours and conducted a check of the box car and surroundings. The structure was still partially on fire at the time. Troopers returned to the scene on 11/23/2012 at approximately 1200 hours to continue the investigation. The fire burned very hot. The structure and much of the evidence was reduced to ashes. With the help of Trapper Creek EMS personnel, Troopers and personnel located what could possibly be human remains in the ashes. The State Fire Marshal's Office responded and the State Medical Examiner's Office has been notified. The evidence found will be evaluated to determine if it is human remains. The person who is known to occupy the structure is currently unaccounted for. Next of kin for the occupant have been notified. However, AST is awaiting confirmation from the SME regarding what was recovered and potential positive identification before releasing the identity of the unaccounted for individual. The cause and origin of the fire has not yet been determined. Investigation revealed that Aaron struck a family member on the face during an argument at his residence. The victim suffered injury to the left side of her face. Aaron is charged with Assault 4 (DV) and is waiting to be arraigned. He is currently incarcerated at YKCC on other charges. Alcohol was a factor. Yute Aviation Cessna 172 with 4 people on board was forced to land on an iced over lake 5.69 miles west of Bethel after the engine failed. The pilot and three passengers were uninjured. Bethel Search and Rescue responded with two ATV's and brought the passengers to Bethel. EMT's examined all passengers and were warmed up. Alcohol was not a factor, FAA was notified. State Troopers responded and learned that a fight ensued at a residence in Tuluksak after a disagreement. The victim suffered a laceration to the head after being struck with an object on his head and needed medical treatment. Wise was arrested and awaits transport to Bethel. He is charged with Assault 3. Alcohol is a factor in this incident. Investigation revealed Lawrence Paul, age 37, of Holy Cross placed a family member in fear and physically assaulted that family member. Lawrence was arrested and transported to Bethel where he was remanded to YKCC pending arraignment. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the incident. Investigation determined unknown persons entered the school by damaging a window near the back gym entrance. Once inside several offices and desks were damaged. A cash box was located and $250 was stolen. Damage to the school and equipment is estimated at $5000. Investigation revealed Lena M. Anungazuk, age 60, of Fairbanks was operating a maroon, red 2007 Ford Escape southbound on the Parks Highway. While Anungazuk was negotiating a corner she lost control of the vehicle and collided with the guard rail. The vehicle is a total loss. Anungazuk and her passengers reported wearing their seatbelts and sustained minor non-life threatening injuries. Investigation revealed Samuel Kimmel (40 YOA of Healy) was driving his 2005 Chevy Colorado pickup northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail. The vehicle sustained major front end damage but was driveable from the scene. Kimmel reported wearing his seatbelt and no injuries. DOT was notified of the guardrail damage. AK Bureau of Investigation Location: Bethel Case Number: TBD Type: Alcohol Importation/Search Warrant Text: On 11/27/2012 Bethel WAANT began an investigation into a suspicious freight parcel at a local air carrier in Bethel, Alaska. The parcel was to be shipped to Kipnuk, a local option community. Incident to the investigation, the freight parcel was seized. On 11/27/2012 a search warrant was obtained through the Bethel Court authorizing the search of the parcel. Incident to the search, 6-750ML bottles of whisky which were wrapped in clothing, were found and seized. Suspects have been identified, and WAANT investigation continues, with anticipated charges of Alcohol Importation.
