Investigation revealed Virgil E Phillips, age 55 of Wasilla, assaulted a family member at the residence, causing minor injuries. Phillips was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where he was held without bail. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: Fairbanks, AK Case Number: AK12253122 Type: MVC-F Text: : On 11/30/12 at 1537 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report of a multiple vehicle crash near Mile Post 336.5 Parks Highway. Investigation revealed that a 2008 Nissan Altima driven by Shawn Dugan (25 YOA, FT Wainwright/Homestead, Iowa) was heading south bound to Anchorage. Dugan's passenger was identified as Sandy Graetzsch (33 YOA, Fairbanks). Dugan lost control of his car as he slowed to make a right hand corner on the highway. Witnesses report that Dugan's car skidded out of control and crossed the centerline. Rhonda Coghill (49 YOA, Nenana) was north bound with her daughter, Ladonna Coghill (28 YOA, Nenana), and her granddaughter, Arianna Coghill (4 YOA, Nenana). Rhonda Coghill attempted to avoid the crash by driving her 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche to the shoulder, but the Altima and Avalanche collided in one of the two north bound lanes. Graetzsch and Dugan were killed in the crash. Next of kin for both have been notified. The Coghill's were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Everyone in Coghill's vehicle were properly restrained in seat belts and a child safety seat. The status of seat belt use in the Altima is pending further investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Investigation revealed that Jeremy Carl Weller, age 21 of Palmer, was driving northbound in a white 1994 Isuzu Rodeo when he lost control on icy roads, slid off the roadway and rolled. Neither Weller nor his passenger reported any injuries. Seatbelts were worn. Alcohol was not a factor. The vehicle was estimated to be a total loss. At 1255 hours, AST Patrol located the vehicle and contacted the driver James T. Corning, age 65 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Corning to be driving while intoxicated and on a Revoked drivers license from a previous DUI. Corning was arrested and remanded to Mat Su Pretrial where bail was set at $5000.00 and a CATP. Investigation revealed Mitchell had four outstanding arrest warrants for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial Conference on the original charges of No Valid Operator's License. Mitchell was remanded into custody at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial facility where bail was set at $1000.00 bail.
