Investigation revealed the business was broken into and multiple items were stolen. Estimated damage to the business is approximately $400.00. Investigation continues. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Amanda Maxim age 33 of Gulkana for DV Assault IV. Maxim was transported to AST Glennallen where she was held pending arraignment. Troopers observed the BMW driving recklessly on Church Road. The BMW swerved towards the responding Trooper nearly causing a head on collision. The BMW drove into the oncoming lane of travel and the n off of the roadway into the ditch. The BMW eventually stopped on Church Road near Spruce Avenue. The driver was identified as Megan Soczka, age 27 of Wasilla. A 3 year old was found in the back seat of the BMW without a car seat or safety belt. Investigation revealed that Soczka was driving th e vehicle while impaired and under the influence of drugs. Soczka was arre sted for Assault 3 for nearly causing a head on collision with the Trooper, DUI-Drugs, and Endangering the Welfare of a Miner in the 1st Degree. Socz ka was transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held o n $2,500 bail plus CATP. The BMW was released to a family member. The 3 y ear old was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for evaluation an d was later released without injuries. Troopers responded and investigation revealed that Timothy Deacon, 42, of Grayling assaulted a community member while in his residence after getting into a heated argument with him. The injured resident suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention. Deacon was arrested for Assault IV and transported to Bethel where he was remanded into YKCC. Investigation found that Steven Lupo, 53 of Delta Junction, was west bound in his 2001 Ford Pickup when he collided with a moose crossing the road. Lupo along with his passengers Princess Lupo and Jesse Polston were free of injuries and wearing their seatbelts. The vehicle was rendered inoperable. Investigation revealed that Djafarou Sadic, age 37 of Fairbanks, drove a 2009 Subaru Outback onto a jersey barrier on a sidewalk. Sadic reported wearing his seatbelt and no injuries were reported. Sadic was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,500. As the driver, later identified as Johnny Bell age 62 of North Pole, tried to pull over for the traffic stop he was unable to negotiate a turn and drove into the ditch striking a stop sign. AST investigation revealed a 2006 Chevy HHR driven by Kendall Barrett, 28 yoa of Sterling, lost control while traveling northbound, entered the ditch adjacent the southbound lane, and struck a culvert. Barrett sustained injuries during the collision and was transported to the Central Peninsula Hospital by surface ambulance for treatment. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end and undercarriage. Alcohol was not a factor and Barrett was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. No citation was issued. An investigation by Troopers revealed that Daniel claimed he qualified for a 2011 Resident Low-Income Sport license when in fact he did not meet the minimum qualifications for the license. Le was cited after investigation revealed he had purchased commercially taken Geoduck from four fishermen and provided false weights on Alaska Department of Fish and Game fish tickets. Investigation by Ketchikan and Klawock Wildlife Troopers found that Le misreported the actual weights of commercially taken Geoduck clams and failed to report Geoduck clams that had been harvested in excess of trip limits established by Alaska Department of fish and Game. On 10/25/2012, through a plea agreement made with the Ketchikan District Attorney's office, Jiayong Le had 18 charges dismissed and plead guilty to 1 count of falsifying fish tickets. Le was fined $250, with a $50 surcharge for a total of $300 to pay. Le was placed on one year probation with a suspended imposition of sentence after one year. Pressly were cited after Alaska Wildlife Troopers observed the F/V Lorelei commercial diving for Sea Cucumbers in closed waters of Trollers Cove on the east side of Prince of Wales Island. Investigation revealed the vessel had harvested a total of 1395 pounds of Sea Cucumbers from closed waters. The State of Alaska seized the load of Sea cucumbers valued at $5580.00. On 10/19/2012, through a plea agreement made with the Ketchikan District attorney's office, Matthew R. Pressly, Gregory S. Shaw, and Samantha M. Pressly plead guilty to 1 count of commercial fishing in closed waters. Each defendant was fined $1000, with a $500 suspended, with a $10 surcharge for a total of $510 to pay. Each defendant was placed on one year probation and forfeited the proceeds of the Sea Cucumbers seized during the investigation. Incident to the contact, two (2) 750ml bottles of alcohol were found in her carry-on bag. Lower Kalskag is a local option community which bans the sale and importation of alcohol. A case report charging her with alcohol importation will be forwarded to the Bethel District Attorney's Office.
