Santiago Lara, age 31 of Anchorage, reported to AST that he and Joseph Travis, age 24 of Anchorage, had become separated while snowmobiling along the upper Kashwitna River, near Willow. A Search and Rescue operation was initiated by the Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers. At 0047 hours, Travis was located by Alaska Wildlife Troopers and escorted back to the trail head. Travis was cold and wet, but in good health. Investigation revealed 19 year old Kindran L. Forbis of Wasilla assaulted a household member at the residence. Forbis was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where she was held without bail. Author: DAC1 Received Monday, December 12, 2011 10:12 AM and posted Monday, December 12, 2011 10:37 AM ------------------------------------------------- Location: Willow Case number: 11-122788 Type: Search and Rescue Text: On 12/11/11 at approximately 1608 hours, Scott Howe, age 29 of Colorado Springs, Colorado, reported via cell phone that he and a friend, Douglas Thompson, age 70 of Willow, were stuck in deep snow near the 2,500 foot elevation level of Willow Mountain, near Willow, Alaska. Howe stated the two men were approximately =BD mile apart and that they were stuck in deep snow for several hours. Howe also stated neither of the men were prepared to stay overnight in the conditions. Investigation revealed that Howe and Thompson went riding for the day and were caught in heavy snowfall as they tried to return to where there vehicle was parked. After attempting to dig their snowmobiles out for several hours the two men telephoned Alaska State Troopers and requested assistance. Weather service reports show that between 1500 hours and 2000 hours, reported heavy snowfall and poor visibility in the Willow area with 6" to 10" of fresh snow expected. On 12/11/11 at approximately 1830 hours, Search and Rescue operation was initiated by the Alaska State Troopers and included members of the Willow volunteer SAR team Alaska Wildlife Troopers. Howe and Thompson were located by searchers at 1930 hours, and transported back to their vehicle via snowmobile. Howe and Thompson were cold and wet, but in good health. Troopers identified a passenger in the vehicle as William Emry, age 20, of Wasilla, who had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear at arraignment on the original charge of driving while license suspended. Hawk Lane, near Houston. Investigation revealed that Vincent W. Kunayak, age 38, of Houston assaulted two family members at the residence. AST and USCG Military Police responded to the scene and determined that no one was injured. Further investigation revealed that 74 year old Robert Norton of Kodiak was driving a 2006 Chrysler van on Buskin River Road when he lost control and collided with an unoccupied 2008 Chevy van. Road surface conditions at the time were extremely slippery with rain falling on compacted ice. Norton was wearing his safety belt. Damage to the Chrysler is estimated at $3,000 and damage to the Chevy is estimated at $3,000.00. Rush, age 21, of Kodiak as the passenger of a vehicle during a traffic stop. Investigation revealed Rush had been consuming alcohol in violation of his conditions of release. Rush was transported to Kodiak Police Department Jail where he spit in the Trooper's Patrol Vehicle. While remanding Rush into the jail, Rush spit on a Trooper. Text: On 12/4/11 at 1820 hours, Village Public Safety Officer responded to a report of Frederick Oscar Wilson, age 23 of Manokotak, supplying alcohol to the community, and stealing gasoline from a snow machine. Investigation revealed, when the VPSO arrived at Wilson's apartment for questioning, Wilson and another individual fled on a nearby snow machine and failed to stop for the VPSO. During the pursuit, Wilson was driving reckless on an icy roadway and got away. Further investigation revealed Wilson had stole about a gallon and half of gasoline from a local snow machine, broke the gas cap on the snow machine, and driving on a revoked driver license. On 12/7/11, Wilson was arrested and transported to the Dillingham Jail and charged with FTS for Peace Officer, reckless endangerment, DWRL, theft 4, & criminal mischief 5. Hales, age 26, of St. George, UT for two counts of false statements on resident commercial crewmember licenses for 2010 and 2011, false statements on a 2010 resident Juneau wetlands permit, false statements on 2010 resident deer harvest tags, and for false statements on 2010 resident sport fish and hunting licenses. Investigation stemmed for an initial report of Hales failing to return his 2010 resident Juneau wetlands permit to the local ADF&G office. Hales falsely obtained all the resident applications when he did not meet Alaska resident requirements. Arraignment is set for December 29, 2011 at 1315 hours in the Juneau District Court. Investigation revealed Michael Roddey, age 41 of Fairbanks, had driven his red 2002 Subaru car into the ditch. The car sustained moderate damage. Roddey was found to be impaired and under the influence of alcohol while driving the car. He was arrested for DUI. He was charged additionally with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 6th after he was found to be in possession of marijuana. Roddey was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center. Brian Keith Bowman, age 20 of Fairbanks, was identified as the driver. Investigation revealed Bowman had only an instructional permit and was in violation of that permit by driving alone. Brittany Osborne, age 17 of Fairbanks, was contacted on scene in a separate vehicle. It was found that the GMC van was hers and she was allowing Bowman to drive it, knowing that he did not validly licensed. Bowman was issued a misdemeanor citation for Drive in Violation of Instructional Permit and Osborne a misdemeanor citation for Permitting an Unauthorized Person to Drive. The vehicle was occupied by two 16 and a 17 year old male juveniles. The operator was issued multiple citations. The two passengers were issued misdemeanor citations for possessing marijuana. The juveniles were released to their parents. No damage occurred to the vehicle. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Richard Sisson (age 30 of Sterling), was arrested for DUI after investigation revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol. Alaska State Troopers responded to investigate the report. Ensuing investigation found that Charles Anderson, age 74 of Soldotna, had driven into the ditch receiving minor injuries as a result. Anderson was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital for evaluation, where he was treated and released. Anderson was then arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was held on $500 bail. Anderson's vehicle was impounded from the scene.
