Investigation revealed 41 year old Benjamin Polty, of St. Mary's, assaulted his girlfriend causing fear and pain. Polty was arrested and pled guilty to the assault charge at arraignment and will serve 60 days in jail. Polty is being remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel. Apparently the wood was stolen by a person cutting firewood. People cutting firewood in the Standard Creek Road area are reminded that private land and leased timber sales are off limits for wood cutting.
