Text: On 12/29/12 at approximately 0140 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Klawock responded to a single vehicle collision near mile 5 of the Craig-Klawock Highway. Investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was southbound on the Craig-Klawock Highway when the vehicle crossed over the center-line and oncoming lane of traffic before entering the ditch and coming to rest. The driver then fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a female passenger in the vehicle, who was later transported by EMS to be treated for minor injuries sustained in the collision. Investigation revealed that Arnold Nelson, age 64 of Angoon, had assaulted a male family member in their residence. Nelson was arrested for Assault IV DV. Nelson was arraigned in Angoon and transported to Juneau and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. Investigation revealed Fortner had an outstanding APD warrant for his arrest for Escape. Further, Fortner was in violation of his conditions of release on another charge by having consumed alcohol and by being at the residence. Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, Joseph Franks, age 32 of Palmer was operating the vehicle on a Revoked Driver's License. Franks was arrested for DWLR. Franks was transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on $1,000 bail. The vehicle was released to the passenger. Investigation determined Patrick W. Aloysius Jr. 31, of Aleknagik was operating a snowmachine when he struck a boat pulled up near the trail on the beach and caused significant damage. Aloysius was found to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a firearm when he was contacted. Aloysius was subsequently arrested for DUI. A records check showed Aloysius to have two prior DUI convictions in the last 10 years. Further Aloysius refused to provide a breath sample after his arrest. Aloysius was remanded at the Dillingham jail for felony DUI, felony refusal, reckless driving, and misconduct involving weapons in the 4th degree. Investigation determined person(s) entered a residence while the homeowner was away and broke into a safe inside the residence. Cash was stolen from the safe. The driver failed to stop and fled the area at a high rate of speed with a female passenger on the back. The driver of the snowmachine eventually jumped over a berm of snow at the edge of the road and continued across the tundra. A suspect has been identified and the case is under investigation. Investigation revealed 65-year-old Kodiak resident Charles Johnson was northbound on Monashka Bay Road in a 2001 Dodge pickup. Johnson lost control due to icy road surface conditions and collided with the ditch. Johnson reported no injuries and was wearing his safety belt. Damage to the truck is estimated at $5,000. Investigation revealed that sometime between the afternoon of 12-28-12 and the morning of 12-29-12 someone attempted to steal a door window out of one of AAA's moving vans. The attempted theft failed when the door glass shattered. Evidence at the scene indicates the suspect then attempted to steal the same window from another moving van. The van door was disassembled but glass was left behind. The damage is estimated at $500.00. Investigation revealed Edward Junior Wortham, age 32 of Fairbanks, had driven the car into the ditch and was impaired and under the influence of alcohol while doing so. He was arrested for DUI. Erica Ivory Anderson, age 26 of North Pole, was identified as a second person on scene. Investigation revealed she was in control of the car and attempting to drive it from the ditch when AST arrived. Anderson was impaired and under the influence of alcohol as well. She was arrested for DUI and Resisting Arrest. Both were remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center. Bail for Wortham was set at $1500. Bail for Anderson was set at $2500. Investigation revealed Kelly Julianne Marble, ag 27 of Ft Wainwright, was driving westbound in a red 2008 Ford Explorer when she struck a moose that ran in front of her car.
