A Detachment Location: Ketchikan Case number: AK12259673 Type: Failure to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1st Degree, DUI, MOCA, MCA 2nd Offense, MCA 1st Offense, VCOR x3, MICS 6th Degree, Warrant Arrest Text: On 12/30/12 at 0041 hours, the Alaska State Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black BMW near Clover View road and the North Tongass Highway. The vehicle failed to yield and accelerated at a high rate of speed and proceeded Southbound on the North Tongass Highway before the driver attempted to make a right hand turn onto North Point Higgins Road and lost control of the vehicle. The BMW went airborne into the ditch and struck a light pole. Both the driver and passenger attempted to flee the scene on foot and were apprehended a short distance away by AST. Investigation revealed that the driver, Marika Garner, age 18, of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol. M. Garner was arrested for Failure to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1st Degree, and DUI. M. Garner was also issued citations for MOCA, and MCA 2nd Offense. The passenger Chance Dowling, age 18 of Ketchikan was found to have a No Bail warrant stemming from Failure to Complete Community Work Service with the original charge of MICS 6th Degree. C. Dowling was also found to be intoxicated and in possession of Marijuana. Further investigation revealed that C. Dowling was Violating Conditions of Release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse. C. Dowling was arrested for VCOR x3, and MICS 6th Degree. C. Dowling was also issued a citation for MCA 1st offense. Both M. Garner and C. Dowling were transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center. No injuries reported. Investigation revealed Travis Robertson, age 19, of Wasilla caused over $500.00 worth of damage at the residence over a previous dispute with a person who lived there. Robertson additionally threatened physical injury the same person by telephone. During the investigation Troopers contacted Skyler Marsh, age 19, of Wasilla. Marsh was found to be in violation of his conditions of his release from a earlier arrest and was consuming alcohol as a minor. Robertson was placed under arrest for Criminal Mischief in the third degree and Harassment in the second degree and was remanded into the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held with no bail. Marsh was placed under arrest for Violating Conditions of Release and Minor Consuming Alcohol and was remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $500.00 bail. Troopers contacted Branden Mora, age 23 of Ft. Richardson. Mora was arrested for DUI and reckless endangerment. A search of his vehicle subsequently revealed synthetic cannabinoid products. Mora was taken to the Wasilla Police Department, where he also refused to submit to a breath test. Mora was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility on $2500 bail and court approved 3rd party. He was fine $500 for the fail to salvage charge and ordered to pay $400 restitution for the deer. He was additionally fined $1500, with $1000 suspended for the trap closed season charge and ordered to pay $700 restitution for the 14 marten he taken.
