Resources - Alaska Victimization Survey
The Alaska Victimization Survey is conducted annually by the Council and the University of Alaska Anchorage Justice Center. The survey provides estimates of intimate partner violence and sexual violence experienced by adult women in Alaska.
The first survey was conducted in 2010, when 971 randomly selected Alaska women were surveyed over the phone. Questions were asked about specific behaviors, resulting in Alaskaís first comprehensive look at intimate partner violence and sexual assault against women.
Results from the survey are used to guide planning and policy development, effectively evaluate the impact of prevention and intervention services, and provide greater empirical support for preventing and responding to violence against women.
Statewide estimates were produced in 2010 and regional estimates were produced in 2011 (Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Bristol Bay), 2012 (Kodiak, Sitka, and Yukon-Kuskokwim), and 2013 (Matanuska-Susitna, Kenai Peninsula, and Ketchikan). Support for the Alaska Victimization Survey is provided by the Council through the Governorís Choose Respect initiative and the Alaska State Legislature.Click on the photo or this link to find out more.
