Investigation revealed Theresa Bobbitt, 32, of Wasilla, was in violation of her condition of release from a previous misdemeanor arrest by consuming alcohol. Bobbitt was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where she was held on $250 bail plus a required Court Appointed Third Party (CATP). Author: DAC1 Received Tuesday, March 12, 2013 3:12 AM and posted Tuesday, March 12, 2013 9:12 AM C Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Bethel Case number: AK13016725 Type: Overdue snow machiners Text: On 3/10/13, at 2350 hours, AST was contacted by Matthew Heckman (28 yrs) of Marshall, reporting he'd left Bethel on 3/9/13 at 1900 hours from Bethel on snowmachine bound for Marshall along with Joseph Fitka (32 yrs) and Melissa Alick(34 yrs) and they never arrived. Heckman was riding solo , Fitka and Alick were together. Heckman lost sight of the other snowmachine about 7 miles from Bethel during in a severe ground blizzard. Heckman circled attempting to find the others but could not find the machine or tracks. Relatives were notified and no one has heard from Fitka or Alick, who have cellular phones. Calls to the phones go directly to voice mail. Bethel SAR was alerted and at first light began a search. On 3/11/13 at 1250 hours, Alaska Wildlife Trooper Abbott was flying over the area for the search and located the couple 13 miles south of Russian Mission. Their snowmachine had become inoperable and they had made camp. A ground team was dispatched and brought the couple to Russian Mission. They were uninjured. All SAR coordinators were notified and search teams for this mission were recalled. Alcohol was not reported as a factor. Commack was discovered lying in deep powdered snow, just off the boardwalk alongside the Selawik Health Clinic. There was no indication of foul play. It is believed that Commack had fallen in the snow, some time prior to 0400 hours and remained outside in temperatures of approximately -20 degrees, before she was discovered. The State Medical Examiner was notified; the investigation is ongoing. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. Investigation determined that John D. Durham (27 yoa of Fairbanks) broke into a residence and assaulted a former girlfriend. She was not seriously injured. Durham stole a handgun and vehicle from the residence and departed the area. AST located the stolen vehicle near Plack and Nelson Road at approximately 0900 hours. John Durham was arrested for DUI, and the crimes listed above. During the investigation AST discovered a marijuana grow inside the residence, which consisted of approximately 50 plants. Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) responded to the scene to investigate the MICS incident. Durham was remanded to FCC. An on scene investigation disclosed that Christina Ragina, age 36 of Wasilla, was traveling Northbound on The Parks Highway when her vehicle, a 2007 Jeep Commander, started to lose control and began drifting into the southbound lane. Ragina attempted to steer the vehicle back to the northbound lane. The vehicle slid through both lanes and struck the snow at the northbound edge of the roadway and overturned. There were no injuries to the driver or two juvenile passengers. All parties reported wearing their seatbelts. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Troopers responded to the scene and contacted Erica Ann McCrary, age 30, of Anchor Point was highly intoxicated and in the roadway causing a traffic hazard. McCrary was arrested at the scene without incident, transported and remanded to the Homer Police Department where she was held on $500 dollars cash bail. An investigated revealed Donald had a warrant for his arrest. Donald was arrested. During the arrest Troopers found a glass smoking pipe in his pocket, which tested presumptive positive for Methamphetamine. Donald was transported and remanded into Wildwood pretrial for the arrest warrant and the new charge of MICS 4. The investigation revealed Thomas Hensel, age 45, of Kenai was driving a 1991 Ford truck and drove into the ditch. At the conclusion of the investigation Hensel was arrested for DUI. He has two prior convictions for DUI in the past 10 years, making this a felony DUI. Hensel was remanded into Wildwood without incident.
