A Detachment Location: Ketchikan Case number: 10-58358 Type: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Text: On 6/30/2010 at 1522 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Knudsen Cove. The driver was identified as Thomas Scott, age 37 of Ketchikan. An on-scene investigation lead to Scott's arrest for DUI. Scott was transported to Ketchikan Corrections Center where he was remanded without incident. The residence was privately owned by the Duncan's of Kake. The fire was caused by a 4 year old boy playing with fireworks in the living room which subsequently caught the couch on fire and quickly spread throughout the home. The three occupants in the house at the time were able to make it out safely. One boy was treated for minor smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported. The damage to the house is estimated at approximately $30,000. The VPSO's and the Volunteer Fire Department are credited with preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding structures and vegetation with limited equipment available to them. AST contacted the driver, Jonah Rodrigues, age 22, of Palmer. Investigation revealed that Rodrigues was driving while impaired by alcoholic beverages. Rodrigues was arrested for DUI and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded on $500.00 bail. Wassilie was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical facility where at 2110 hours she was pronounced deceased from her unexpected condition. Next of kin was on scene. Investigation revealed that 47 YOA Jeffrey T. Lagneaux of Anchorage was driving his white 2003 Kia sedan northbound on Knik Goose Bay Road while under the influence. Lagneaux lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road and caused approximately $4000 in damage to his vehicle. The passenger was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital where he was released with minor injuries. Lagneaux was arrested for DUI and transported to Palmer Post where he was remanded and held on $1000 bail. Investigation revealed that SHAVINGS was trespassing on private property, yelling and pounding on a residence window. It was also learned that SHAVINGS threatened to hurt his girlfriend earlier in the evening. SHAVINGS was taken to the VPSO office and remanded to the local jail. SHAVINGS will be transported to YKCC in Bethel on the next available flight. The driver, Jonathon Simon, 24, of Fairbanks, and his unwilling passenger fled into the flood control area on the ATV. A short time later, Simon was contacted in Moose Creek. On 07/03/10, at approximately 1346 hours, Alaska State Troopers located Brian Douglas Stutzke (age 27 of Kenai) on the property where the items were stolen and damaged. Stutzke was arrested for Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree after investigation revealed that Stutzke had unlawfully entered the warehouse, stole over $500 worth of items, and caused over $500 in damage. Stutzke was remanded at Wildwood without bail. The driver identified himself as Sean Roberts, age 35 of Washington state. Roberts did not have insurance on the vehicle. A records check was conducted and Roberts was unable to be located. Further investigation revealed Roberts possessed an amount of marijuana, prescription pills that were loose and not properly contained in a prescription bottle, and psilocybin mushrooms. Roberts was placed under arrest and remanded in the Seward City Jail as John Doe. The following day, Roberts true identity was determined to be James Morgan II, age 35 of Anchorage. A records check of Morgan revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Failure to Comply with alcohol screening on the original charge of MICS 3 with a bail of $10,000. Morgan was charged with the additional charge of Making a False Report. Author: MAZ0 ------------------------------------------------- Case number: 10-59744=09 Location: Seward Type: Assault IV on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, MCA Text: On 7/3/10 at 2220 hours, a Cooper Landing based State Trooper was conducting a consuming alcohol under age investigation at approximately .5 mile Exit Glacier Road. When Troopers approached a male who appeared to be underage, the male ran away. The Trooper contacted the male and a brief struggle ensued, and in the process the male assaulted the Trooper. The male was identified as 20 year old Michael Crumley Jr. of Anchorage. Crumley was found to be under the influence of alcohol while being under the age of 21. Crumley was transported to the Seward Jail and remanded on the above charges. Text: On 7/3/10 at 2230 hours, a Cooper Landing based State Trooper contacted 18 year old Shelby Stoltzfus-Avis and 18 year old Tori Wangrud both of Anchorage at 2 mile Exit Glacier Road. Investigation revealed both had been consuming alcohol while under the age of 21. Both were charged with MCA and will appear in the Seward Court at a later date. An investigation showed that Rene Grant, 37 of Anchorage, had assaulted the female at their campsite in Cooper Landing. Grant was arrested and remanded into the Seward Jail without incident. An investigation showed that in the early morning hours of 7/5/10 an adult male had broken into the business and stole money and damaged property. Thomas P. Supple, 30 yoa of Soldotna, had grabbed a woman by the throat and thrown her to the ground during an argument. He had also destroyed her cell phone after she said she was going to call 911. Thomas Supple was arrested for Assault II, Criminal Mischief IV and Interfering With a Report of a DV. He was transported to Wildwood Pretrial and remanded there pending arraignment. Investigation revealed that both K. Lee and J. Lee had taken sockeye salmon by snagging them other than in the mouth in fresh water. Investigation also showed that J. Lee had taken 4 sockeye salmon where the limit was 3. Both K. Lee and J. Lee were issued citations for snagging, while J. Lee was cited for taking over the limit of sockeye salmon. Seven sockeye salmon were seized and donated to charity. The AST Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Investigation determined Kenneth J. Greene age 63 of Ocala, Florida, was traveling southbound on his 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he drove onto the shoulder, lost control and crashed. Greene was ejected from the motorcycle. EMS responded to the scene and Life Med was launched however, Greene died at the scene. Greene was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Alaska State Medical Examiner responded to the scene and the Next-of-Kin was notified. Greene was a participant in the Hoka Hey Challenge, a motorcycle challenge ride from Key West Florida to Homer Alaska.
