During the investigation, it was determined Chivers physically assaulted a family member. Chivers was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail. While at the residence, Troopers contacted Wendy P. Meyer, age 39 of Wasilla and Tanesha Hart, age 20 of Wasilla. During the investigation, Meyer and Hart both assaulted a Trooper by causing physical injury and resisted arrest. Meyer and Hart were arrested for Assault 4, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly conduct. The CVE Officers discovered that Riewe was not lawfully licensed to operate the commercial motor vehicle. Riewe was subsequently contacted by the Alaska State Troopers who issued him a summons to appear in court for the charge of Driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle without Being Lawfully Licensed. Alaska State Troopers, conducting traffic enforcement in the City of Kotzebue, AK, during the 4th of July weekend, stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation, near the Maniilaq Health Center. SOURS was contacted during the traffic stop as a passenger in the vehicle. Investigation revealed that SOURS had an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure To Appear on the original charge of Minor Consuming Alcohol-Habitual, issued by the Kotzebue Court. SOURS was remanded to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where he was held on a $1,000.00 cash bail. Investigation revealed that FOSTER, while intoxicated, assaulted a family member. The family member sustained minor injuries resulting from this physical assault. Further investigation revealed that REED was consuming alcohol in her residence with the 16 year old female. The 16 year old, without provocation, physically assaulted REED, causing serious physical injury to REED's face. REED ordered the 16 year old to depart her residence. The 16 year old departed, but a short time later, returned, once again physically assaulting REED. The 16 year old female was arrested by Troopers for the charges of Assault II, Criminal Trespass I, MCA; and then remanded to the Juvenile Detention Facility, Nome, AK. REED was treated for her injuries and then released by the local clinic. REED was found to have furnished alcohol to the 16 year old female prior to the assault. Troopers are forwarding the charge of Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor to the Kotzebue District Attorney's Office. The family members feared that NORTON would harm them and requested Troopers to respond to their residence in Kivalina, AK. At approximately 1850 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrived in Kivalina and arrested NORTON for Assault IV (DV) and Disorderly Conduct (DV). Investigation found that Sun Beistel, 62 of North Pole, was driving her 2004 Ford Focus when she turned right onto Borda from Remington Circle. Beistel failed to see a 2001 Ford Explorer traveling towards her being driving by Amy Growden, 43 of North Pole, and pulled out in front of it. Both were wearing their seatbelts and were free of injury. Beistel's vehicle was drivable while Growden's needed towed. Troopers contacted Douglas Walker, age 24 of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Walker was passed out and intoxicated in the parking area of the Park. The two subjects were identified as Helmut & Alina Schoettner, ages 38 of Germany. They became stranded for approximately two hours after the cable jumped a pulley and became jammed due to people pulling too rapidly on the cable. Both subjects were safely recovered. An investigation showed that in the early morning hours of 7/5/10 an adult male had broken into the business and stole money and damaged property. The incident was caught on video and the investigation is ongoing. UPDATE: On 7/9/10 Troopers arrested John Soper, 52 of Seward, in connection with this burglary. Investigating Troopers received information and assistance from residents of Cooper Landing which led to identifying and contacting Soper. Soper was remanded into the Seward Jail without incident. Investigation revealed that both Litvin and Chebukin had taken 46 sockeye salmon and 1 king salmon with a dipnet during closed season. Wink, age 64, of Juneau, pled guilty in the Juneau District Court to 1 count of attempted wanton waste of a big game animal and violating conditions of release. The charge was the result of an investigation of a complaint received through the Alaska Wildlife Safeguard Hotline. The investigation showed that Wink had taken 2 deer during a hunting trip on Admiralty Island, near mile 3 of the "B" road at Greens Creek on 11/13/09. Wink salvaged 1 deer on 11/14/09, but failed to salvage the other. On 11/15/09 Wink took the unsalvaged deer and dumped it over the bridge near mile 3. AWT recovered the unsalvaged deer on 11/17/09 and determined that the deer was still fit for human consumption. Wink was also found to be on criminal probation for a prior offense of making a false statement on a sport license application. Wink was sentenced to a fine of $2000 with $2000 suspended for the wanton waste offense, $100 in court surcharges, and ordered to 10 days in jail with 9 suspended, 1 to serve at Lemon Creek Correction Center. Wink's rifle was forfeited to the State. For violating conditions of release from the prior charge, Wink was ordered to pay $3000 with $2500 suspended, $500 to pay. Wink was issued a bailable fine of $160 on 11/14/09 for failing to validate his deer harvest ticket for the unsalvaged deer. Investigation revealed Alaska Wildlife Trooper Abbott was on patrol traveling south on the Kenai Beach operating a Yamaha Grizzly ATV when his ATV struck a set net rope that was pulled taught by the tide.
