Alaska. After the ship docked in Juneau AST investigated and found that Winifred Sell, age 75, of Simi, CA had died of natural causes while under the care of the ships doctor. The next of kin who was traveling with her was notified and are making arrangements for the remains to be returned to CA. The two were reportedly last seen walking on a trail behind the lodge earlier in the day. The Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad was notified and responded to the scene. On 07/11/10 at about 1056 hours, KVRS personnel located both juveniles who were found half way to McDonnell Lake. No injuries were reported and the juveniles were taken back to Yes Bay Lodge by KVRS. Investigation revealed Jacob Shuptrine, age 30 of Wasilla, was riding his ATV on the bike path and slowed for an intersection when he was struck from behind by another ATV being ridden by Siegfried Sundberg, age 52 of Big Lake. Shuptrine was transported by EMS to Mat-Su Regional where he was treated for injuries and released. Sundberg was transported by Life Med helicopter to Providence Alaska Medical Center where he is being treated for injuries. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. Investigation is ongoing. During the investigation State Troopers contacted Eric L. Allen, age 50 from Palmer. Investigation revealed that Allen had stolen the gold 1997 Saturn sedan from a local business. Further investigation revealed that Allen had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and with a revoked drivers license. Allen was arrested for Vehicle Theft 1, Felony DUI, and DWLR while the vehicle was returned to the owner. Allen was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded into custody and held on $50,000.00 bail. Investigation revealed that Brian Bean (36 YOA of Wasilla) was driving his 2004 Subaru northbound on the Glenn Highway when he became distracted and drove into the oncoming lane of travel. Bean corrected the vehicle and left the roadway causing the vehicle to roll one time before coming to a rest on its side. Bean sustained minor injuries. The vehicle is considered a total loss.
