B Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Sutton Case number: 10-64645 Type: MVC-Damage/Wildlife Text: On 7/15/2010, approximately 1635 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to mile 60.4 Parks Highway in Sutton for a single vehicle collision involving wildlife. Investigation revealed Emma L. M. Bregger, age 20, of Sutton, was driving southbound on Glenn Highway in a gold 1997 Jeep Cherokee when a moose entered the roadway in front of her vehicle. Bregger's vehicle collided with the moose. Bregger reported wearing a seat belt and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle sustained very minor damage. Placzek of Palmer at a residence off of Dimond Way in Wasilla. Placzek had one outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $500 for Failure to Comply with ASAP on the original charge of DUI. Placzek was arrested without incident and remanded to MSPT where he was held on the warrant. Investigation revealed that Vincent Ryall, age 18 of Wasilla, assaulted a family member and interfered with the report of a DV crime. Ryall was arrested, transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial facility and held without bail. Author: DLR0 Received Friday, July 16, 2010 2:16 AM and posted Friday, July 16, 2010 2:44 AM ------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: 10-64626 Type: MVC-F (ATV Off-Road) Text: On 07-15-10, at approximately 1632 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an off road motor vehicle collision on the trail along Lucille Street near Schrock Road involving an ATV. Investigation revealed that Cheyanne M. Jorge, age 17, of Wasilla was driving a 2007 red Arctic Cat ATV southbound on the trail along with her passenger, Zackery S. Potteiger, age 17, of Wasilla. After crossing a driveway, the ATV overturned. Both Jorge and Potteiger suffered injuries from the crash and were transported by EMS to Matsu Regional Medical Center. Jorge later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Potteiger was treated for his injuries and released. Both Jorge and Potteiger were not wearing their helmets at the time of the collision. Next of Kin was notified and the SME took custody of Jorge's remains. Investigation continues. Investigation revealed that the driver, Brett Baxter Jr., 24 of Chugiak, was driving with a suspended AK drivers license. Baxter was issued a criminal citation for DWLS and was released at the scene; his vehicle was released to a licensed driver. Investigation revealed 21-year-old Lisa Marie Kennedy of Wasilla had driven while under the influence of alcohol, driven while license suspended, and had caused property damage at a residence on Birch Street in Houston. Kennedy was arrested, transported, and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial with bail set at $750.00. Troopers contacted a Robert J. Kimbel, age 56 of Houston, outside of the residence. Investigation revealed that R. Kimbel was driving his vehicle under the influence. R. Kimbel was placed under arrest for DUI and MICS 6. R. Kimbel then resisted arrest. R. Kimbel was transported to the Mat-Su West AST post where he refused to provide a sample of his breath. R. Kimbel was then charged with refusal and was then transported and remanded to the MSPT on $2500.00 bail. Investigation determined that the passenger car travelling Southbound crossed the Northbound lane entered the ditch and collided with a light pole. The vehicle came to a rest on the bike path, upside down facing south. The driver, Cody L. Austermuhl age 18 of Valdez was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and was uninjured. The vehicle was totaled as a result of the collision and the damage to the light pole was estimated at $4000.00. Austermuhl was issued an AUC for negligent driving. Deigh, age 41, of Egegik was intoxicated on 07/13/10 and pulled a semi-auto pistol on a man. Deigh was arrested for Assault 3rd D.V. and MIW4th D.V. He was overdue and his whereabouts were unknown. Investigation revealed that Sandra Johansen, age 48, had assaulted an ex-boyfriend, age 49, at his residence in Clark's Point. The victim received minor injuries and declined medical treatment. Investigation revealed that Jay HATCH, 34 of Anchorage, was driving north in a 2006 Ford truck when he passed a series of vehicles driving north. HATCH impacted with a northbound driver of a 1995 Ford Taurus as the Taurus attempted to turn left off the highway. Seatbelts were used by all occupants, but because of HATCH's speed, the driver and passenger of the Taurus sustained injuries. The passenger sustained head trauma and had to be medivaced to Fairbanks. HATCH had his two children in the vehicle with him and he was intoxicated. HATCH was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Assault in the Third Degree (x2), Reckless Endangerment (x2), and Reckless Driving. Lange's sole passenger, Stephen Stone, age 54 of Fairbanks was found to be on Felony Probation for Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Police Officer and Hindering Prosecution. Stone was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Both were arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Stone was additionally arrested for Probation Violation. AK Wildlife Troopers --------------------------------------------------------------- Location: King Salmon Case Number: 10-55650 Type: Aircraft Accident On 7/15/10 at 1215 hours, Wildlife Troopers in King Salmon were notified of an aircraft crash with unknown injuries somewhere near King Salmon Creek north of King Salmon. A privately owned helicopter responded to the crash site to transport the pilot and passengers back to King Salmon. Investigation has revealed that the pilot, Douglas Bradbury, 44 yoa of North Pole, was flying his Piper PA-14 aircraft, N5126H from Igiugig to King Salmon with 3 passengers aboard. The aircraft was in a holding pattern north of the airport due to poor weather when the engine began to run rough and then lost power. Bradbury made an emergency landing and was then able to call for help via a satellite phone. Medics checked and cleared all persons aboard. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and is considered totaled. The FAA and NTSB have been notified. Author: Sgt. B. The driver was identified as Nathan N. Puzey, age 29 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Puzey had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to driving. After failing field sobriety tests, Puzey was arrested for DUI and held at MSPT on $2500 bail plus a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
