A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Ketchikan Case number: 10-65790 Type: DUI Text: On 7/18/2010 at approximately 1600 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan arrived at the intersection of Gena Road and the North Tongass Highway for a reported single motorcycle collision. Investigation revealed 48 year old Thomas A. Beene of Ketchikan lost control of his motorcycle and went into the ditch. Beene was uninjured and his motorcycle was undamaged. Subsequent investigation revealed Beene was under the influence of alcohol. Beene was arrested for DUI. Beene was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was remanded for DUI. Bail was set at $1,000.00. Troopers contacted the passenger, who was identified as Steve Kitterman, age 41 of Palmer. Kitterman was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice for his two outstanding arrest warrants from the Court at Creek County, Oklahoma. Kitterman was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with bail set at $20,000.00 c/c and a court approved third party custodian. Investigation revealed that approximately $300.00 was taken from the facility. Suspect(s) caused approximately $700 in damage to the inside of the facility. The case is currently under investigation. Investigation revealed that Karen Rifredi, age 58, of Wasilla, passed away due to natural causes. Comfort on paperwork was on file and next of kin was on scene at the time of death. The SME was notified and the body was released to the family. Valley Funeral Home Responded to provide final services. No foul play was suspected. AST responded and investigation revealed that Gillie Reeb, age 33 of Pedro Bay, was drinking with his adult cousin the previous evening. In the early AM hours of 07/17/2010, Gillie Reeb forcibly entered his adult cousins residence while in possession of a firearm and made threatening statements to an adult female also in the residence. Gillie Reeb was arrested, transported and remanded at the Bristol Bay Borough Detention Facility in King Salmon for Burglary 1st and Assault 3rd and held without bail pending arraignment. Alcohol is believed to be a significant factor in this incident. Investigation revealed Christopher Browning, 34, of Washington State was driving a 1997 Ford Pick-Up when he became distracted and overturned after striking a steep bank. Browning, who was seat belted, was uninjured but the pick-up appeared to be a total loss. Browning was cited for due care to avoid a collision. AST contacted the suspect in the theft of services at FT Abercrombie State Park. During the investigation Deborah L Jarosz, 58, of Kodiak admitted to not paying her cab fare and then refused to leave the park after being told to leave the park for causing a disturbance both by AST and State Park Rangers. Jarosz was arrested for Theft of Services, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass and Resisting Arrest. Jarosz was lodged at the Kodiak Jail to await arraignment with a set bail of $1,250. An investigation disclosed, Penn physically assaulted one family member and placed the other family member in fear of being assaulted. Penn was arrested in Noatak and transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where he was remanded with no bail pending arraignment. Tribal and Village Police Officers responded and later arrested Jonathan David (age 23 of Kwethluk) for Domestic Violence Assault. Subsequent investigation by the Alaska State Troopers in Bethel resulted in David being remanded to YKCC in Bethel on charges of Sexual Assault of a Minor II DV, Assault III DV, Interferance with the Report of Domestic Violence, Importation of Alcohol into a Local Option Village, and Escape IV. Alcohol is a factor in this case. James Victor Williams, age 43 of Fairbanks, collided with a 1986 Red Honda motorcycle driven by Sean Ray Barnes, age 40 of Fairbanks, after Williams failed to yield after a stop sign. Williams utilized his seatbelt and Barnes was wearing a helmet. Barnes sustained injuries and was transported to FMH by EMS. Williams was cited for failure to yield after stop sign. During the stop, Erica gave false information, was detained, and managed to flee while handcuffed on foot and be picked up by a passerby and her friend. Investigation revealed that Samuel E. Kunaknana-Baily, age 20 of Nuiqsut, Peter Kosbruk, age 25 of Nuiqsut, Terri Sovalik, age 21 of Fairbanks, and Marc Johnson, age 21 of Montana were hindering the prosecution of Erica Kunaknana. Both Marc and Samuel resisted arrest before being remanded to FCC on 7/18/10. Investigation also revealed that Erica Kunaknana was violating her conditions of release and committed criminal mischief V.
