A Detachment Location: Ketchikan Case number: 10-67873 Type: Burglary 1st, Theft in the 2nd Degree Text: On 7/23/10 at 1952 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary of a residence near mile 12 of the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that the residence was recently entered into and numerous items were stolen from the residence. The items include a laptop computer, an X-Box 360 station and a DVD collection valued at $15000.00. AST investigation continues. AST responded to the area and contacted the driver of a 1992 Eagle Talon. AST investigation revealed that the driver, Andres C. Importante age 47 of Ketchikan, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Importante was arrested for DUI and was remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center. Investigation revealed that Anthony Charles, age 26, of Ketchikan damaged a door to the residence of a family member during an altercation. Damage to the door was estimated at approximately $600.00. A. Charles was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. A. Charles was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree involving Domestic Violence and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 6th Degree. A. Investigation revealed that the driver, Desirae Butcher, age 27, of Wasilla, was traveling east on Bogard Road when she drove her Chevrolet Suburban off the road and collided into several trees. Butcher was transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries. Butcher reported wearing her seatbelt at the time of collision. The vehicle was totaled. Alaska State Troopers responded to the Three Bears parking lot and located the vehicle parked. Jesse Scudder, age 29, of Palmer was contacted as the driver in the vehicle. Investigation revealed that Scudder drove while under the influence of alcohol. Scudder was arrested for DUI and transported to the Matsu Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded into their custody on $1,000.00 bail. Scudder was also issued a citation for open container. Akers, 51, of Palmer and Gary D. Nall, 46, of Wasilla who were unaccounted for since Thursday. Akers and Nall were transported to the road system where they were taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Investigation revealed the two men had departed the Palmer Airport at 7 p.m. on Thursday for a sight seeing flight. The excursion led them into the Knik Glacier drainage where a downdraft required Akers, who was piloting the aircraft, to make a controlled landing in the terrain in what is possibly the area of Friday Creek. The two men then hiked towards the Knik River, traveling along an ATV trail until they ran into the group of men who rescued them. The two had been walking on and off for 30 hours. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified. Investigation revealed that George Amukon, age 45 of Scammon Bay, assaulted Dalton Kopanuk, age 26 of Scammon Bay by threatening him with a knife. Amukon was arrested and transported to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel. During a search of Amukon's person, Amukon was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Investigation revealed, Morgain Chesbrough, 24yoa, of Fairbanks was driving a white 2009 Nissan Versa when she lost control due to her speed at which time her vehicle started skidding causing the vehicle to roll over upon going into the ditch. An investigation revealed the 17 yoa minor was driving his vehicle in violation of his Instructional Permit and had failed to insure his vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle, 19 yoa Anchorage resident Jhonathan Liebsack, was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, a case of beer, as well as a partially consumed 40. oz beer within the minor's vehicle. The minor was cited for speeding and summonsed to appear in court for the instructional permit violation and failure to insure his vehicle. Contact was made with several people. Troopers contacted LLoyd B. Davis, 43 YOA of Anchorage and Brenda Sanford 46 YOA of Mentasta. Investigation revealed Davis drove the vehicle into the ditch. Sanford was attempting to back the vehicle out of the woods when troopers arrived. Investigation led to Davis being arrested for DUI and Sanford for Felony DUI. Davis had been arrested first and while attempting to place Sanford into the patrol vehicle after her arrest, Davis kicked the patrol car door open, striking the trooper and exited the back of the patrol vehicle. A brief struggle ensued with Davis and Sanford. Both Davis and Sanford were taken into custody with out injury. Davis was additionally charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Escape and Assault 4th on a Police Officer. Sanford was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and DWLR. Both Davis and Sanford were transported to FCC and remanded. They were held without bail pending arraignment. The passenger was identified as Mitchell S. Frank, 50 YOA of Northway. Investigation revealed Frank had a Tok AST warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear on a DUI charge. Frank was arrested for the Warrant and transported to FCC where he was remanded.
