Investigation revealed that Kalvin Kerr age 24 of Kalskag and a second adult male were traveling down river in a small open boat. The boat they were in took on water and sank, Kerr was able to make it to shore and later located unharmed. A search of the area is continuing for the second man. The pickup was not equipped with required anti-spray devices (mud flaps). The driver of the pickup, Thomas Frost III, of Kodiak, had been previously issued a correctable citation for the same equipment violation approximately 8 weeks earlier but failed to respond to the citation. Frost was issued a second correctable citation for failing to equip his vehicle as required. Frost was also charged with Failure to Obey a Citation, a Class B Misdemeanor. Frost was released at the scene and the criminal charge was forwarded to the Kodiak District Attorney's office. The driver, 22 year old, Kyle Lackey of Seward was subsequently arrested for DUI, DWLR and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. The vehicle was released to the passenger who was waiting for family to pick her and the vehicle up. At 2329 hours, AST located the vehicle parked at a different location and found the passenger Sandra Hansen of Seward, walking away from the vehicle. Investigation revealed Hansen moved the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Hansen was subsequently arrested for DUI. Both were transported to the Seward Jail and remanded without incident. The driver was identified as Brandie Jensen (32 YOA of Houston). Investigation revealed that Jensen was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed that Jensen had her 2 children in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. Jensen was also texting while driving just prior to being stopped. Investigation revealed that Timothy L. Kuretich Jr., age 25 of Wasilla, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina van when he drove off the roadway and the vehicle subsequently rolled onto the driver's side. Kuretich fled the scene prior to AST arrival and left the vehicle owner, Jessica Mark, and her 5 yoa son in the vehicle for an unknown length of time. Investigation indicated that Jessica and her son were left in the vehicle with unknown injuries for more than 2 hours before being discovered by passers by. Investigation also revealed that Jessica Mark was highly intoxicated at the scene. Her son was assessed at the scene and determined to have suffered no injuries. Mark was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center where she was assessed and determined to have suffered no injuries. Kuretich had been driving the vehicle while his driver's license was revoked for a previous DUI charge. AST took Mark's son into custody and released him to his grandfather. Kuretich's whereabouts are unknown. The incident is under investigation by AST/ BHP. The driver was identified as Jared Jamison (21 YOA of Sutton). Investigation revealed that Jamison had a warrant for his arrest in the amount of $500.00 cash/corporate, for failure to appear, original charge of driving in violation of license. Jamison was arrested and booked into the Mat Su Pre Trial Facility.
