B Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: 10-69113 Type: DWLR Text: On 07/26/2010 at approximately 2215 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle where the driver was observed to be operating a vehicle without a seatbelt. The driver was identified as Casey Kelly, age 31 of Wasilla. Kelly was found to be operating the vehicle while her license status was revoked after being notified. Kelly was issued a criminal citation for DWLR to appear in court at later date and released at the scene. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver. Little Brook Lane Cabin #3 in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Sanford S. Wasankari, age 40, of Wasilla returned to his property on Little Brook Lane, to find his residence had been broken into. The items stolen were three guns, money and other goods valuing over $6,000.00. Investigation revealed Turner was Driving While License Revoked for Felony DUI and was using the wrong license plates on the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and Grapengeter was arrested and transported to Mat-SU Pretrial Facility where he was held with bail to be set at arraignment. Investigation revealed that Natalie Peterson age 28 of Chuathbalulk had assaulted a non family member. Further investigation revealed Peterson had also supplied alcohol to that person who was under the age of 21. Peterson was arrested and charged with Assault in the third degree and Furnishing Alcohol to a minor. Peterson was transported to the YKCC in Bethel where she was remanded without bail. Jimmy Evan Jr.'s family members in Napaskiak became worried when he, his wife and his two daughters did not return home as planned. On 7/27/2010, as Alaska State Troopers were organizing the subsequent search effort, Jimmy Evan Jr. and his family returned home to Napaskiak Unharmed. Upon contact with Jimmy Evan Jr., he stated that they had problem with their boat motor, but were able to tow it home with the help of other community members in the area. Investigation revealed Gregory E. Sherman, age 26 of Eagle River, was driving a blue 2000 Ford F-150 pickup southbound on the Parks Highway near milepost 220 when a cow moose ran across the roadway in front of him. Sherman was unable to avoid the collision and struck the moose. The moose was killed instantly and salvaged by a local charity. Sherman reported wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported by Sherman. Total damage was estimated to be approximately $5,000.00. Investigation revealed that Angelena Moreda (20 YOA of Eagle River) was driving her 2005 Chevy Equinox southbound on Seward Meridian when she attempted to turn around in the roadway and was struck by a northbound Ford Bronco, that was being driven by Glenn Parsons Jr. (52 YOA of Wasilla). Further investigation revealed that Moreda was driving recklessly at the time of the collision, as she was trying to get another vehicle to stop after an argument. Moreda was issued a misdemeanor citation for reckless driving. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No injuries were sustained in the collision, and both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
