A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Ketchikan Incident number: AK12243285 Type: Assault 4th Degree Text: On 10/16/12 Ketchikan AST received a report of an assault near the 6000 block of Roosevelt Drive. AST responded to the scene and contacted both parties, the investigation has been completed and the case is being forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review. Investigation revealed that Patricia Bishop, 61 of Ketchikan, was traveling Northbound on the Tongass Highway when she hit a sheet of black ice. The vehicle slid out of control and off the roadway coming to rest on its side. Bishop was transported to the Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center for unknown injuries. Seatbelts were worn and alcohol was not a factor. AST and AWT troopers responded to the scene. Investigation revealed that an adult black bear had entered the home's arctic entry way and closed the door trapping it inside the residence. Troopers were able to remove the bear from the home without incident. Further investigation revealed the outside door to the home was left unsecure during the night and food items in the entry way attracted the animal. The Alaska State Troopers would like to remind residents to keep the doors to their homes secure as well as store all food and trash in a manner that does not attract wildlife. The truck, a 2010 dark blue Chevrolet, had white circular labels on each side which read "Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium". Investigation determined the driver, Jared Noya, 18, of Wasilla was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license. Noya was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in court at a later date and released from the scene. A licensed passenger took possession of the vehicle at his request. Investigation revealed the driver, Kayleen Wells, age 21 of Big Lake, had given Troopers a false name and had two outstanding arrest warrants for Theft II X 2, Fraudulent Use of an Access Device, and Theft III. Wells was arrested, transported, and remanded to MSPT where she was held on $3,500 dollars bail. AK Bureau of Investigation Location: Bethel Case Number: AK12244120 Type: Alcohol Importation Text: On 10/20/2012 Bethel WAANT/AST were notified of a suspicious freight parcel destined for Hooper Bay, Alaska. Incident to the investigation, the suspect/recipient a resident of Hooper Bay, was identified and interviewed. The freight parcel was searched and found to contain, 8-1 Liter bottles of vodka. A case report will be forwarded to the Bethel DAO charging the suspect with alcohol importation. Hooper Bay is a local option village. Investigation complete. Changsak, 34, of Bethel at a local air carrier as he waited for his flight to Russian Mission. Incident to the investigation, a concealable firearm along with ammunition was found in one of Changsak's checked bags. Also found in the bag was approximately 13 ounces of marijuana along with packaging materials for distribution. Changsak was also found to have a single 750ML bottle of distilled spirits taped to his midsection. A records check showed that Changsak is currently on probation through the Bethel and St. Mary's courts and was in violation of those conditions. Changsak was arrested, transported to YKCC and remanded pending arraignments on 10/21/2012. Incident to the contact, thirteen (13) 750ml bottles of alcohol and approximately 26.5 grams of marijuana were found and seized from their checked luggage. Goodnews Bay is a local option community which bans the sale and importation of alcohol. Both Roland and Olson were placed under arrest and transported to YKCC where they were remanded, pending arraignments. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: AK12244039 Type: Warrant Arrest, Resisting Arrest, MICS 6 Text: On 10-20-12, at 0033 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet sedan on the Parks Hwy near Tommy Moe Dr for an equipment violation. Troopers identified a passenger in the vehicle as Shawn W. Dodrill, age 36, of Palmer. An investigation revealed Dodrill had an active warrant for his arrest out of Anchorage for failing to appear at arraignment for the original charge of DWLR. When Troopers and a Wasilla Police Officer attempted to place Dodrill under arrest for the warrant, he physically resisted the arrest and refused to comply with verbal commands. After a brief struggle Dodrill was placed in handcuffs without injury to any party involved. Troopers located a small amount of marijuana on Dodrill's person. Dodrill was placed under arrest for the active warrant, resisting arrest and MICS 6. Dodrill was transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where he was held on a total of $1000 bail. Alcohol was a factor in this case. The driver was contacted and Investigation revealed Charley Gregory age 39 of Wasilla was driving while his drivers license was in a Revoked status for DUI. Gregory was issued a Misdemeanor Citation for DWLR and released. The Gregory made arrangements to have the vehicle towed from the scene at a later time. A passenger fled the vehicle on foot. Investigation revealed the passenger was Cheyse Mahar, age 18 of Palmer, who had 4 outstanding warrants for his arrest. Troopers, with assistance from Palmer Police and Wasilla Police K-9 conducted a man hunt and K-9 track. Mahar was apprehended and arrested at about 0645 hours, at a residence about 3 miles from the location of the traffic stop. Mahar was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on the 4 warrants with bail set at $11,500 C/C + CATP.
