Knik Goose Bay Road, in Wasilla, for the report of a shot fired within an occupied building. Investigation revealed the suspect discharged a firearm into the floor of the upstairs apartment and the bullet traveled through the occupied apartment below. No occupants of either apartment sustained any injuries and the investigation is ongoing. Nancy Gruchow, age 72, was found deceased inside her home. EMS was contacted and responded to the scene. Investigation revealed the death was the result of natural causes and no foul play is suspected. Next of kin were on scene and the body was released to Valley Funeral Home. Wolf did not have time enough for evasive action, and consequently struck the moose. The Traverse was towed from the scene and the moose was salvaged by a local charity. There were no injuries. No enforcement action was taken. An investigation showed that Eric Gerrard, 31 of Indiana, had been driving the vehicle when it went off the road and rolled down an embankment. Further investigation showed that Gerrard was under the influence of alcohol while driving the vehicle. Gerrard was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where bail was set at $2500. Peterlla, age 65, of Big Lake, at a residence in Big Lake during a disturbance investigation. An investigation revealed that Peterlla had been driving a vehicle while impaired and that two minors were passengers in the vehicle. Peterlla was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was lodged on the charges of DUI-Alcohol and two counts of Reckless Endangerment. Bail was set at $500.00. The Pontiac failed to stop after the Trooper activated their vehicles emergency lights and sirens. The Pontiac finally came to a stop near the Trunk Rd exit where the driver was identified as Amelia E. Fitts, age 30, of Wasilla. An investigation revealed Fitts was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol and she was placed under arrest for DUI and failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer in the 2nd degree. Fitts was transported and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held on a total of $1500 bail for both charges.
