A Detachment -------------------------------------------- Location: Haines Case number: AK12256507 Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Damage Text: On 12/15/12, at 0545 hours, Haines Police department contacted Ketchikan AST Dispatch in reference to a single vehicle collision at 13.5 Mile Haines Highway. Investigation by Haines AWT revealed that on 12/14/12, at approximately 2200 hours, Eric Triezenberg, age 36 of Haines, was traveling north on the Haines Highway in a 2005 Chevrolet Express van when he lost control of the vehicle due to the snowy road conditions and the vehicle spun around and went backwards off the side of the road and rolled over onto the driver side of the vehicle. Seatbelts were not utilized and no injuries were reported. Estimated damage to the vehicle was $1,000. Investigation determined Briannan Farris, age 22 of Big Lake assaulted a family member and interfered with that family member reporting the assault to Troopers. Farris was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial and held without bail. Investigation revealed Wesley Smith, age 22 of Wasilla, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Smith later refused to submit a sample of his breath for the purpose of determining his alcohol level. Smith was remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $1,000 bail. Investigation revealed a passenger, Richard Kelly age 27 of Wasilla, had two warrants for his arrest. The first was failure to appear for trail call on original charge of Theft III with a $250 bail. The second warrant was for failure to appear for trial call on original charge of DWLR with a $250 bail. Kelly was arrested and remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. Troopers contacted, Brandon Cleveland, age 25 of Wasilla who was intoxicated and challenged Troopers to a fight. Cleveland was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, transported, and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held until sober. Investigation revealed that William Lamont Jr., age 43 of Emmonak, assaulted another individual by placing them in fear of imminent physical injury. Lamont was arrested for one count of Assault IV, and two counts of Disorderly Conduct. Lamont pled guilty at court arraignments on 12/15/2012, and was sentenced to incarceration at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel. Text: On 12/14/12, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan post, summonsed David Vest, age 36, from Ketchikan, for retaining commercially harvested undersize Dungeness crab, failing to complete a commercial fish ticket upon landing Dungeness crab, and unlawfully possessing undersize Dungeness crab. Vest was issued a summons to appear in Ketchikan District Court, on 12/26/12, at 1300 hours, for arraignment on these charges. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol --------------------------------------------------------- Location: Talkeetna Case number: AK12256447 Type: Motor Vehicle Crash with Fatality Text: On 12/14/2012, at 2024 hours, Troopers with the Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol South Central Team and Wildlife Troopers responded to Mile 91 of the Parks Highway for a report of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment. An investigation showed that Brian Buckley, age 30 of Anchorage, had been driving his 2005 Dodge pickup south bound on the Parks Highway. Buckley lost control of his vehicle and it went into the oncoming lane of traffic where it struck a 1986 Subaru wagon being driven by Johnny Yow, age 54 of Talkeetna. A passenger in Johnny Yow's vehicle, James Yow, age 56 of Talkeetna. James Yow was declared deceased at the scene by EMS. Buckley and Johnny Yow were transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash but it appears that seatbelt use is a factor. Investigation revealed Craig S. Lingle (62 YOA of Fairbanks) was driving a 2008, Toyota Prius. Lingle made an improper lane change. Nancy Stark (52 YOA of Fairbanks) was driving her 2000, Toyota Rav 4 near the same location, when Lingle maneuvered his vehicle into her lane of travel. Stark was not able to avoid the collision and collided into to Lingle's vehicle. Both vehicles incurred minor damage as a result of the collision. Lingle was cited for a moving violation.
