Investigation revealed that someone had stolen the dirt bike on 12/20/12 between 11:00 AM to 3:00PM. The estimated total loss of stolen property is $2500.00. Case is under investigation. Text: On 12/14/12 at approximately 1105 hours, the Kasaan VPSO received a report of a fuel theft in the village of Kasaan. The complainant reported that at some point between 12/4/12 and 12/14/12, an unknown individual had stolen approximately five gallons of fuel from his vehicle while it was parked outside of his residence. Investigation revealed that Lars Collin , 32 years of age of Ketchikan was driving east on Revilla Road when he los t control of his 2004 Toyota Tundra and exited the roadway, the vehicle cam e to a rest upside down in the ditch. Collin was wearing his seatbelt an d reported that he was not injured in the accident. Damage to the vehicl e was disabling and estimated at over $2,000. A mechanical fault with th e vehicle and icy roads may have contributed to the incident. No citatio ns were issued and the vehicle was removed by Purdy's Towing. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Joshua Dennis, age 24 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Dennis had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed Dennis's Indiana State Drivers License had been suspended. Subsequently, Dennis was arrested for DUI and DWLS. Dennis was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial and held with bail set at $500. Investigation revealed William D.Q. Thomas, age 29 of Wasilla, assaulted two family members causing minor injury. Further investigation revealed Lilly L. Thomas, age 49 of Wasilla, assaulted a family member causing pain and took the telephone from them while they were calling 911 to report the assault. Lilly was arrested for Assault IV (DV), Interfering with a Report of Domestic Violence, and Disorderly Conduct; she was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held without bail. The victim advised Martin Andrew to leave, who refused to leave and subsequently spat on the victim. The victim, fearing for her safety, raised an item in defense at which time Martin Andrew left the building. On 12/20/12, an arrest warrant was issued and served on Martin Andrew who was arrested, transported and remanded to the Bristol Bay Borough Detention Facility for Harassment in the First Degree, Disorderly Conduct and Assault in the Fourth Degree. Alaska State Troopers and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper responded to the residence and found Sterns had barricaded himself in his room. Troopers attempted to negotiate with Sterns through the door, but he refused to exit the room. Troopers used pepper spray to resolve the situation without causing injury to Sterns who surrendered peacefully at approximately 2345 hours. Sterns was arrested on a charge of felony third- degree assault-DV. AST responded to the community and subsequent investigation revealed that Stephan Topkook, 25, of Teller had shot his uncle with a rifle, striking him in the torso. The victim was flown to an Anchorage hospital where he was treated and released. Alaska State Troopers contacted Topkook at his home and he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with one count of second-degree assault; four counts of third-degree assault; second-degree misconduct involving a weapon for shooting at a residence; one count of fourth-degree misconduct involving a weapon for handling a firearm while under the influence of alcoholic beverages and another count for shooting across a roadway; and tampering with evidence for disposing of the rifle prior to troopers' arrival. State Troopers and a Village Public Safety Officer responded and investigated. Investigation revealed that 29 YOA Ger aldine Rae Turner of Holy Cross who was wheelchair bound and suffered from a serious medical condition had been consuming alcohol on 12-20-12 and into the morning hours of 12-21-12. At about 0940 hours, her boyfriend awoke an d went to check on Geraldine. Upon doing so he observed her lying on the k itchen floor. Geraldine was reportedly not breathing. The Holy Cross Heal th Aide responded to the residence as did two other Holy Cross residents. CPR was commenced and at about 1055 hours, CPR was stopped and Geraldine wa s pronounced deceased. There were no signs of foul play. The State Medi cal Examiners Office was contacted and requested that Geraldine's remains b e transported to Anchorage for an autopsy. Next of kin was on scene and no tified. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this incident. AK Wildlife Troopers ------------------------------------------------- Location: Delta Junction Case number: 12-59332 Type: Trap Marten Closed Season Text: On 10/30/12, at approximately 1225 hours, Wildlife Troopers received a report of multiple traps being set on a trail near Eagle. Investigation found that Christopher McKeon, 22 of Eagle had set multiple pole sets with conibear and leg hold style traps to catch marten on a trail near Eagle. McKeon advised he had set one dozen marten traps three or four days before November 1st. Eagle is in GMU 20E and trapping season for marten does not open until November 1st in GMU 20E. McKeon was served a summons for Trapping Marten Closed Season and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Tok District Court. Vanning, 64 YOA, a big game guide, of Post Falls, Idaho, was indicted by a Fairbanks Grand Jury on one count of tampering with physical evidence. Charging documents allege that Vanning altered the horns of a dall sheep that a client killed in order to make them appear to be legal. The hunt allegedly took place in the Brooks Range in 2010. The case was investigated by Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Fairbanks, Wildlife Investigations Bureau in Anchorage and US Fish and Wildlife Service Special Agents. Author: SDQ9 Received Friday, December 21, 2012 11:21 AM and posted Friday, December 21, 2012 11:12 AM AK Bureau of Investigation ------------------------------------------------- Location: Delta Junction Case number: AK12246864 and AK12246886 Type: MICS 4, MIW 3 Text: On 12/21/12 at approximately 0900 hours, Investigators assigned to the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in Fairbanks conducted an investigative operation involving the illegal commercial cultivation of marijuana in Delta Junction. Search warrants were served at two residences where illegal quantities of marijuana were being grown. SDEU contacted Ian Miller (39 yoa of Delta Junction) at his Clearwater Extension residence where SDEU dismantled an 82 plant marijuana grow, and also seized 23 ounces of processed marijuana. Miller was arrested for one count of MICS 4 and he was transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center where he is being held pending arraignment. Additional charges are likely once the completed case is filed with the District Attorney's Office. The second search warrant was served at a Deborah Street residence and resulted in the dismantling of a 60 plant marijuana grow and the seizure of 27 ounces of processed marijuana. The investigation of this case continues and additional charges related to this grow are expected to be filed with the District Attorney's Office as well.
