A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Klawock Incident number: AK12258557 Type: MVC-D Text: On 12/24/12 at 1804 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 15 of Klawock Hollis Highway. Investigation revealed that Dennis Brinkman, 69 years of age of Klawock was driving east on Klawock Hollis Highway when he lost control of his 2006 Ford Ranger due to icy road conditions. The vehicle overturned and came to rest upside down in the ditch. Brinkman reported wearing his seatbelt and refused medical treatment. No citations were issued and alcohol does not seem to be a factor. C Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Kodiak Case number: AK12258355 Type: Search and Rescue Text: On 12/23/2012 at approximately 1802 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of an overdue hiker, Derek W. Russell age 20, of Kodiak. Investigation revealed Russell was last seen at approximately 1000 hours on 12/22/2012 when he told friends he was going hiking on Barometer Mountain. Alaska State Troopers are receiving assistance from the USCG and Kodiak Island Search and Rescue group. The search effort is on going. Author: BTB0 Received Monday, December 24, 2012 11:24 AM and posted Monday, December 24, 2012 11:49 AM ------------------------------------------------- Location: Grayling Case number: AK12258055 Type: Assault in the First Degree-Shooting Text: On 12-22-12 at approximately 0710 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report that there had been a shooting in Grayling. A medivac responded from Bethel with State Troopers on board because the circumstances surrounding the shooting were unknown. State Troopers and a Village Public Safety Officer also responded from Aniak. Investigation revealed that a 19-year-old Anvik resident Chaz Walker had been shot at about 0630 hours inside a Grayling residence. At least two other adult residents and their two small children at the residence at the time of the shooting. While receiving care at the Grayling Clinic, Walker told Troopers he did not know what had happened to him and that he woke up after being shot. Walker was transported to Bethel but due to excessive blood loss, was medevaced to the Alaska Native Medical Center where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition. The two adults at the residence when Walker was shot stated to Troopers that they did not know what happened. Alcohol was a significant contributing factor in this incident. Investigation is ongoing. State Troopers responded and investigated. Investigation revealed a 17-year-old male assaulted another village member with a dangerous instrument over a bottle of alcohol. Charges of Assault in the Third Degree will be forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice for prosecution. Alcohol is a factor in the incident. Investigation revealed two school employees got into a physical fight where one was struck with a pipe wrench causing injury. Investigation revealed Brandon had been consuming alcohol and is on felony probation for Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances. Brandon's conditions of probation include no alcohol. Brandon was arrested on 12/23/12 for violating his probation. Brandon was transported to Bethel where he was remanded to YKCC without bail. Phillip had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to remand to jail regarding a previous criminal charge of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree. Phillip was arrested and transported to Bethel where he was remanded to YKCC without bail to serve his remaining 25 day sentence. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Stacee Pyper, age 27, of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Pyper had an outstanding warrant for her arrest and was subsequently arrested. Pyper was transported to and remanded at the Fairbanks Correction Center Facility were she was held on $500 bail. Troopers contacted 48-year-old Robert Vanreenan and determined that he had kicked in his own door. Vanreenan was given a warning to keep the noise down. An hour later, AST received reports that Vanreenan was causing a loud disturbance. Vanreenan was contacted and arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Vanreenan was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center (FCC). AK Bureau of Investigation -------------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: AK12258309 Type: Robbery I, Assault III, Theft II, MIW 5 Text: : On 12-23-12 AST received a report of an Assault, Robbery, and Theft that took place on Pittman Road about 1/2 mile north of the Parks Hwy. at about 1330 hours. The victim had been hitchhiking when a vehicle pulled over. A passenger in the vehicle got out and struck the victim with some kind of a club and then took the victim's backpack containing a laptop computer and cash. The suspect was later identified as 25-year-old Jonas Jensen. Jensen was subsequently arrested for Robbery I, Theft II, Assault III, and Misconduct Involving Weapons 5. He was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial and bail was set at $10K cash only and Court Approved Third Party Custodian. Anyone who may have witnessed this assault is asked to contact Sgt. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol --------------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: AK12258220 Type: MICS 6th, Violate Re lease Conditions Text: On 12/23/2012, at 0035 hours, Troopers with the Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol South Central Team stopped a vehicle on Bogard Road in Wasilla for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Adam Davis, age 23 of Wasilla. An investigation showed that Davis was in possession of marijuana and was in violation of his conditions of release on a separate criminal charge. Davis was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where bail was set at $100. An investigation showed that Joshua Peltier, 19 of Wasilla, was driving the vehicle and possessed a loaded firearm while under the influence of alcohol. Peltier was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where bail was set at $1500. Author: DJC09 Received Monday, December 24, 2012 3:24 AM and posted Monday, December 24, 2012 3:45 AM ------------------------------------------------- Location: Palmer Case number: AK12258393 Type: Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries Text: On 12-23-12 at 2200 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol along with Palmer Patrol Troopers and Palmer based Fire and EMS responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Trunk Rd near Tern Drive with reported injuries. While en-route Troopers were notified that one of the drivers fled on foot from the crash scene. Troopers responded to the area and were able to locate the driver a short distance away with the assistance of Alaska State Trooper K9 Roelle. The driver that fled on foot was transported to an Anchorage Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries from the crash and exposure. Witnesses on scene reported the driver who fled had also rolled his vehicle farther north on Trunk Rd, but when it came to rest on all four tires took off again south bound on Trunk Road. The occupants of the second vehicle involved were treated and released with no serious injuries. Alcohol appears to be a major factor in this collision. The investigation is ongoing.
